Just in case anybody else is interested...There were two Ming references in Episode 43 that I wasn't familiar with and did some checking into. One was the reference to the "Yongle Encyclopedia." Turns out, this is the largest book ever written: 11,095 volumes! It was compiled by 2,000 scholars under the direction of the Ming emperor and was completed in 1408 (so the timing would be just right for Choi Manli to really, really want to get a look at it). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yongle_EncyclopediaThen later on, we're told that the Ming scholar captured and tortured on Tsushima Island is a "Hanlin scholar." The Hanlin Academy was a Chinese scholarly institution that lasted for more than a thousand years. Reading about it, it sounds like Sejong's "Hall of Worthies" was inspired by it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanlin_Academy
