In the scene with Choongnyeong and Meng Sasung in Ep38, Sasung sees that Choongnyeong is reading “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” and deadpans, “I thought you were studying something serious.” He was being silly. For anybody who doesn’t know, “Romance” is an 800,000-word historical novel that’s one of the classic works of Chinese literature. It was written in the 14th century and deals with events in the 2nd and 3rd centuries. And I found out that the two individuals that Meng subsequently referred to, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei, were important Chinese historical figures who played important roles in the novel. We’ve seen Meng so far as kind of a country bumpkin (he’s the one who rode in on a cow). But he apparently is a sharp guy, to be able to make appropriate references to two characters from an imposing book like that. Anyway, if anyone wants to read more: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romance_of_the_Three_Kingdomsen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liu_Beien.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhang_Fei
