Historical dramas which chronologically follow GKS are King and Queen (between 1452-1506, South Korean production, time setting) and Six Martyred Ministers (Sayuksin) (between 1441-1456). GKS's time span is around 1400-1443, 1447 or 1450. I'm not sure yet if the writer of GKS will continue up to Sejong's death. Recently I've had opportunity to watch the notorious north Korean production Six Martyred Ministers. I found it sufficiently interesting even if it coundn't get popularity in South Korea and I needed subtitles sometimes. As SMM starts from the end of Sejong's reign, we can find several identical historical personnages in GKS. We can also see the old Sejong in SMM. King Sejong in GKS King Sejong in SMM Hwang Hee in GKS Hwang Hee in SMM Gim Jongsuh in GKS Gim Jongsuh in SMM Jeong Inji in GKS Jeong Inji in the SMM Note : Jeong Inji's character in SMM is very interesting. He is a villain politically corrupted, so completely different character comparing with GKS. Anyway, the acting of the North Korean actor was really amazing. Historically Jeong Inji is a famous scholar of Jiphyonjeon (the Hall of Worthies). Yi Hyang, Sejong's eldest son (future King Munjong) in GKS King Munjong in SMM Prince Suyang, Sejong's second son (future king Sejo) in GKS Prince Suyang in SMM Prince Anpyong, Sejong's third son in SMM Prince Suyang and Prince Anpyong in GKS The hero of SMM is Sung Sam Mun, another famous scholar of the Hall of Worthies doesn't appear up. Because he was born in 1418, the year of Sejong's advent. His copin Shin Sook Ju was born in 1417. I'm sure that we will see these two guys in future episodes of GKS. Interestingly, Shin Sook Ju's father, Shin Jang showed up in GKS. Sung Sam Mun in SMM Shin Sook Ju in SMM

More historical backgrounds (certainly most of them will not be mentioned in GKS).
- Shin Sook Ju married a granddaughter of Yun Hwe.
- Jeong Inji's son married a daughter of Prince Suyang.
- Gim Jong Suh was slaughtered by Prince Suyang in 1453.
- Minister Huh Jo's son, Huh Hoo was killed by Prince Suyang after his coup. Huh Jo's grandson (also called as Huh Jo) was a brother-in-law of Yi Gae, one of Six Martyred Ministers.

I think this thread should be marked as "spoiler" because the pictures are from episodes that haven't aired in Chicago yet.

florel, please forgive me for tweaking your original post, but I simply added the word "SPOILER" to the title. I'm not even as concerned about the photos, but as far as the historical information on the futures of individuals, beyond what's aired yet, that falls under the category of "historical spoiler" and I'd prefer to keep that stuff confined to the spoiler thread. Some people watch these series with lots of background knowledge; others prefer to learn as they watch. Since it's just as easy to put the info in one place as another, let's make it the policy to put the historical spoilers in the spoiler thread along with the series spoilers. (Since there was no explicit policy, florel did nothing wrong; just want to be clear about that.)
Anyway, I am so jealous, florel--I would LOVE to see how the North Koreans do this kind of thing. I'm surprised that they have the cash to finance it in the first place. If you come across any info on general availability of that series, please do post it in the forum because I'm sure many people would be interested in seeing the series. Thanks for letting us know about it.

Well done, Ajk. I agree photos of small princes certainly constitue visual spoilers along with historical informations of characters. The minor characters coming in future episode, however, are unrecognizable by any drama viewers (including Koreans) who doesn't have firm historical knowledge. For example, I haven't known about Shin Jang before I watched a few episodes of GKS while his son Shin Sook Ju is a super-celebrity-guy. But if you don't know Shin Sook Ju, how would you be able to recognize Shin Jang when he pops up ? I've never seen a K-historical that presented Shin Jang in its series, so I noted it interesting. Anyway, I didn't post a Shin Jang's photo nor a comment on his character. Let's keep secret... ;D Concerning the North Korean drama, Six Martyred Ministers (SMM), it was financed by KBS. Therefore it was produced by South Korean money + North Korean screen writer, director and actors. Short information about SMM on Koreanwiz : www.koreanwiz.org/at/drama-sayuksin.htmlI also found this drama was mentioned in a thread of your forum. deiner.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=other&action=display&thread=4533It was not popular in SK at all and it's not a lavish production as GKS. But I thought it sufficiently interesting for a history drama fan. I'm sorry I don't know how you can find out english subtitled SMM. I have files of episodes 1 and 2 without subtitles, and I viewed other episodes on KBS VOD. It was aired in KBS2 last year, so if some of you present petitions to your TV station, who knows..? ;D Recently a South Korean tourist was murdered by a gun shot of North Korean soldier. I hope SMM woudn't be the first and last co-production of two Koreas.
