...somebody fill me in on what happened in episode 63. I was watching the Super Bowl and forgot to watch the clock, so I didn't set my tape until about 25 minutes in -- then, when I did set it, I forgot to see how much tape was left -- and I got all of five minutes before the tape stopped!
SO, what I know is that Mr. Ming kicked the bucket and they were going to bury Jang's girlfriend alive to keep the boss company.
That's basically it -- don't need a blow by blow of the whole hour, just a summary of the basics will suffice and hold me until next week.
'Preciate it!

Ep 62 I'm glad Gim Mun stirred up the pot too, but I wonder how long he will be able to hold out against Jo Malseng. Gim has to be at the top of Jo's revenge list. This episode was very emotional. Seeing the Queen blame herself for Jeongso's death was extremely sad. I was surprised to see Queen Soheon make a move on the investigation, though it looks like it was Hwang Hee's idea. Her talk with PM Yun was awesome, and effective. What really got to me was her peaking in on Sejong and Um Jachi. She had a moment of realization: a better understanding of the weight on Sejong's shoulders and the constraints he has to deal with. Even in the final scene with Sejong, she still looked like she was in a lot of pain, but it looks like she is about to rise above it all. Quite an achievement.

Yes, wangdangman, you have to read the summary because a lot happened, including Jo Malseng's latest plots. It's a shame you missed it. I set my VCR before the game. Familiar faces: Wang Zhen, head of the Emperor's secret intelligence agency, played Captain Chung's father in IYSS. Jurchen Chieftain Manzhu, played Muchuo in DJY. Tongmengga (Jurchen) played Tungso in DJY. EPISODE 63 What a horrible ending for Daion and Huang Yan. The practice of burying Empresses and concubines, some buried alive, to accompany the Emperor to his next world was barbaric. Thankfully Daion wasn't buried alive, but to hang yourself!? Couldn't they have shown mercy? I'd like to hang Haishou. Huang Yan was tortured, beaten and stabbed. Very sad. He was an admirable character. You'd think Choi Haesan would have known better to keep his voice down while plotting a secret plan to save Daion! He's usually a great guy but he blew it this time. On a side note, where did Youngsil get all those fireworks and why didn't any soldiers catch him? It was a very long display. For the first time I thought Youngsil acted alive instead of like a zombie. It was touching that he made Daion happy in her final moments, although it was a strange scene and the music didn't fit at all. Well Jo Malseng is at it again and Prince Kyoungnyeong, with Hyobin's approval, is right there with him. When is somebody going to get rid of him? I will be very disappointed if he makes it to the end of the drama. I loved the scene with The Hall of Worthies scholars and Malseng. I hope they keep badgering him. The scholars definitely won that exchange of words. ;D

Ep 63 I couldn't watch Daion hang herself. The fireworks were a poignant touch, but I also was wondering the same things. I also had a problem with how the writers had Huang Yan's nationality revealed. It was too easy to have Choi Haesen blurt it out with Haishou and a bunch of troops eavesdropping outside. I would think that when you live in rooms with paper walls that everyone knows that anyone outside of the room can hear everything you're saying! (or that you would hear a bunch of people approaching your room) I can't wait for someone to wipe that smirk off of Jo Malseng's face, permanently. Sejong has given him so many chances to change, this has to be the last straw. Kyoungnyeong has turned out to be a big disappointment.

1. Episodes 63, 64 and 65 really, for the first time, let you see who Sejong was and why he is regarded as one of Korea's greatest kings.
When Dami said to him, "How could I have gotten a letter to you when I can not write?" -- suddenly I could see why his greatest achievement is considered the new alphabet.
2. We saw how he made the common folk part of the country instead of the rich running it all.
3. We saw that Jo Malseng is a snake of the lowest order. We saw why he MUST die slowly -- painfully. Letting him kill himself with a knife or poison ain't gonna do the trick. He must be tied to clydesdales and then have them pulling s-l-o-w-l-y instead of all at once so it's over quickly.
4. Finally we saw why the coming attractions at the end should have SUB-FREAKIN-TITLES! There was ole Jo surrounded by ninjas, his beady eyes wide with fear, the coming attractions probably gave some clue as to what happens, AND WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY SAID!
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH -- oh, yeah -- and we have to wait until Saturday to see what happens!

I hear you wangdangman. It's frustrating when you don't have a clue what's happening. Hi seven stars. Haven't heard from you in awhile. The actor playing Gim Doryeon also played Yi Il in IYSS. One of the guards protecting Sejong was Nalbal from IYSS. Wow it was good to see him and he still doesn't have a big speaking role. The actor playing Poongae also played Kim Sami in AOW. He has a lot more hair in GKS. ;D EPISODE 64 So Jo Malseng is involved in slave trading too. How in the world did he hide all his corrupt activities from Taejong? He's a very slick character. He's got Prince Kyoungnyeong right where he wants him, "they're both in the same boat". He needs to be taken out. He has caused so much turmoil and destruction. A few episodes back, I said I wouldn't be surprised if Jo Malseng had something to do with the turmoil in the north, but I never expected this. He puts everything into motion, then tortures and kills innocent people and constantly mouths off to Sejong accusing him of being responsible for the chaos when Jo is the culprit. Is Dami the leader of the group? She definitely has a lot of power over the Northerners. I loved the scene where the Queen put Hyobin in the hot seat! ;D As I've said before, I'm so disappointed in Prince Kyoungnyeong and Hyobin. I really thought they had changed.

EPISODE 65 Seeing Jo Malseng terrified was priceless! ;D I hope the situation is exactly the way it looks and he's finished. I can understand giving people a second chance and forgiving them but if King Sejong lets him off again..... grrrr. He's guilty of high treason and nobody squeals on him except Gim Mun. I hope Gim Doryeon has something in store for Malseng when he said, "Jo Malseng. He's forgetting that I'm a businessman." I don't know how little, fragile Dami grew up all ninja and such, but I'm glad she had the guts to go to the King. Now he has a clear picture of what the Northerners went through and that they're innocent of the widespread arson. Since the Queen was told that Kyoungnyeong was behind the fires, how is he going to get out of this mess? He didn't know what Jo Malseng had done but he still went along with him to steal the throne. I was surprised to see Prince Hyoryeong again. He didn't seem to mind very much that Sejong wanted the Royal Family to give up plots of land, but Prince Kyoungnyeong didn't look too pleased. I hope Choi Manli doesn't listen to Jo Malseng. He's always trying to manipulate people. The scene at the palace with King Sejong, the Northerners and ministers was good. I'm surprised nobody said anything when Sejong knelt down, not even big mouth Jo. Poongae and Omakji were so touched that the King remembered them. I really like Eunuch Ogeun, he's so cute like a little elf. Does Gim Jongsuh have feelings for Dami or the other way around? It definitely looked like something was going on. The men beating the Petitioners' Drum wouldn't have dared if Taejong were on the throne. Sejong is being challenged so much because they all know he's a softy.

Ep 64/65 I suppose Jo Malseng could have become involved with slave trading after Taejong died. What a mistake on Sejong's part to leave such an evil man in the government, and in charge of the military on top of that! It's scary how powerful Jo has become. On the other hand, the bigger his scheming grows the harder it will become to control all the components: the arson was overdone and Gim Doryeon is pissed off. And YES! it was priceless to finally see some fear in Jo's eyes. I'm very disappointed in Prince Kyoungnyeong too. I wonder if he is now realizing what a hugh mistake he made hooking up with Jo Malseng. In their last few conversations, Kyoungnyeong has to be thinking that even if he is made king, he is going to be Jo's puppet. Liked the scenes with Sejong and the Northerners. Very touching. I wasn't sure whether or not they had any contact with Jo Malseng or his agents. It seems like they decided to go to the capital all on their own, with Jo taking advantage of their arrival.

In their last few conversations, Kyoungnyeong has to be thinking that even if he is made king, he is going to be Jo's puppet. That's exactly what I thought too jojo. Jo Malseng has something on Prince Kyoungnyeong and he will use it. I can picture Jo Malseng pressuring the Prince to do his bidding now that Kyoungnyeong teamed up with the devil.

Oh my goodness, is Gim Doryeon really Yi Il from YSS? That means he was also Huh Seung in AOW. Wow, how could I have missed that? I'll have to rewatch the tape. I did recognize Poongae. And he was also weasely King Anseung in DJY. I did not spot Nalbal. Will have to keep my eyes peeled for further sightings.

mugwump, if you still have it taped, Nalbal is one of the guards that run up with their swords to protect Sejong from Dami. He is closest to Sejong facing the camera. Also at the very end of the last episode, the men that stopped Jo Malseng and scared him, I think one of them is Nalbal. The faces were covered and it was dark but the eyes looked familiar. We'll see tonight.

What -- is it going to take a 10 ton rock falling on your head to convince you that Jo Malseng is a no good, low life wad of snail slime who should be torn into little tiny pieces and fed to wolves?
Does anybody know if Jo Malseng was a real guy, or is he a figment of the writers' imagination? If he was real, he was John Wilkes Booth and Richard Nixon rolled into one!
