I heard about this show called Hae-sin....it has the lead male actor from On the Green Prairie, Choi Soo Jung. and the lead female actress from terms of endearment, chae si ra, in it.... does anybody know when KBC/KBS *whichever* will air it?.....

The drama is Emperor of the Sea and it's a good drama, but poorly cast (in my opinion). Choi Soo Jung (from On the Green Prairie) is a poor choice for the lead (Jang Bogo, a.k.a. Goong-bok) and I can't seem to get past that while watching it. He's a great actor, but I don't believe he was the best choice for this lead part. (Ummmm, someone YOUNGER would have been better, IMO). Even Kim Heung Soo (from More Beautiful than A Flower) doesn't seem to fit. He just looks ridiculous. Another poor casting choice. I don't think I'm being judgemental because of his (spoiled son) part in More Beautiful...but who knows, maybe I am. Song Il Guk was a great replacement (I think one of the draftdogers was supposed to have this part) and I think a better choice than the original actor. Chae Si Ra is just so....well, I won't divulge anything, but she's great in her part ~ as is Soo Ae (Love Letter). It's an interesting drama, one I'm enjoying - except for the two actors mentioned above. But to answer your questions, I don't know when/if Chicago will show it. I'm getting my shows from Korean satellite (TAN - The Asia Network). Melissa

LOL) Melissa I'll have to agree. Johnny Depp is good looking and a decent actor as well. We are getting old 21 Jump Street episodes now in Chicago on ME (Memorable Entertainment) TV. Pretty cool. I don't know about this airing in Chicago. I would like to see it here but who knows. KBC is starting to air older shows (for the modern dramas). Maybe it will be on after The Immortal Yi Soon Shin. He and Suh In Suk (along with others) made those characters come alive in brilliant fashion. Do you think he was chosen simply because of the fact that he is already a star?

He's doing a good job acting, but he *looks* so much older than his counterparts that it detracts, in my opinion, from the part. I really enjoy his acting - in other dramas and even in this drama, but the age difference really shows versus his "friend" Kim Heung Soo, who looks about 20-25. If he even looked the same age as Song Il Guk, I wouldn't have a problem. This is just my thinking, but I wonder if he was cast because the lead is the type of person he has played in the past. (Loyal, honest, determined) In that sense, he's perfect for the part...the only problem is that he looks *years* older than his "friends" and the woman he's supposedly in love with (Soo Ae). It's an excellent drama other than that and one of the few I make a point of watching right now (MPC , no thanks). Melissa

Also, I was just reading that this show has been nominated for an Emmy. The popular drama "Emperor of the Sea" is getting rave reviews in the overseas market. The KBS 2TV drama is up for an Emmy, the prestigious U.S. TV award, and recently, at the major international TV market MIPTV, it received concentrated attention from the entire world.

I'm also watching "Emperor of the Sea" on TAN, and though I wasn't that enthused about it in the beginning, now that it's finally picked up some steam (we're up to, I think, episode #14) it's proving to be an impressive show. Great acting, and some really beautiful women! ;D
I also hope this one makes it to Chicago someday - I'm confident that you folks will surely enjoy it.
