Did anyone read the same thing that I did in the Thursday May 15 episode? Single Daddy...Pungho stated that Soji..his ex-wife could become the mother-in-law of Hari if they indeed get married. How could this be? If they married, would not Soji become the mother-in-law of Single Daddy Pungho since Soji is planning to marry Hari's father?

I think it was said at some point that Pungho lived with a girlfriend in college (Soi) and had a baby. I don't think they were married.
However, I caught that comment also. When Soi marries the Doctor she will be step-mother to Hari, and if Hari marries Pungho, Soi will become Pungho's step Mother-in-law, and therefore step-grandmother to San, as well as being his birth mother.
Errrrrr-- I think.

;D ;D Yes, it's the Korean version of "I'm My Own Grandpa" - I just started watching this show and it's interesting - but what I"m trying to figure out is how much of an age difference there is between Pungjo and Hari and her father and Soi??? A lot of years??? Since I just started watching it,. I have no idea. I have noticed that sometimes the subtitles use words in an incorrect way, which changes the meaning in English. So perhaps what was meant was Soi would become Step-MIL to Pungjo just a guess - Hey, I'm sure not putting down the English translations, which for the most part are pretty spot on. Besides, I am eternally grateful to WOCH for providing so many shows with English subs. ;D And - please forgive my misspelling of any characters' names.

I noticed that also, but I decided that it was an error in the translation. That does happen occasionally.

Since soapy is new to the drama, maybe someone could explain something for both her benefit and mine: just how much does Hari's father know? He seems to know that Pungho is Soi's ex, and that the kiddie (San?) is their son, but if so, how is this not a bigger deal to him? I missed the episode where, presumably, he found out who Pungho is. Or does he just object to Pungho as Hari's boyfriend only on the grounds that he is older than she, has no steady job, and is a single father?
I mean, he seems to know that Soi had a son, but is it possible he still doesn't know that Pungho is Soi's ex?

It's my understanding that Hari's father knows that Soi had a child. I'm not sure if he thought that she was married. However, he is under the impression that the Father left her, taking the child with him. He does not know that Pungho is that man. His objection to Pungho is his age and the fact that he is a single father.
Remember Pungho or Hari reminding him that he (doctor) was also a single father, when he left Hari and went to Europe with Soi. (and incidentally, never marrying her.)

I thought the translation was just mistaken mother-in -law instead of step-mother.
I do not think Dr. Jeon knows that San is his fiancee's son or that Pungho was her first love. Hopefully there will be alot of excitement when that news is revealed to him! He still has someone trying to find Soi's son (which she doesn't care about). Dr Jeon's objection to Pungho was really that he's a single father and that Hari is young and still in school. BTW- Dr Jeon makes a terrible father- the same actor played the father in Hello My Lady. He's always so detached and makes things about money instead of emotions.

He was also the king in "Palace" a/k/a "Princess Hours." I really liked him in that, but here I think he's sort of weak and unlikable. I also don't like his glasses, . Thank you for your clarifications about Soi and Pungho.

Hello Everyone,
My understanding is the same as (Teacher) - Hari's father DOES know that Soi has a child and he ALSO thinks that the child's father left Soi and took the child with him. This is why he has employed someone to find her child. However, we all know that Soi left Pungho and San to pursue her dreams. As a matter of fact, she left San (an infant at the time) in the apartment all alone which Pungho discovered once he got home that day. I believe this is why she can't bring herself to tell Hari's father the truth about Pungho and San. Nevertheless, it looks like some of that may come out in this week's episodes.
As far as the ages of these characters, Hari may be in her 20's, Pungho and Soi are between 30 - 34 yrs. and Hari's father is probably 50 or close to it.
In my opinion, what Hari's father is against is he wants more for his daughter than Pungho, just like any father would want. She's still very young and Pungho comes with a lot of baggage. I do believe he likes and respects Pungho if for nothing else he and Pungho share similar circumstances (being single fathers), he's just not ready for Pungho to become his son-in-law.
We shall see what this week's episodes will hold.
Thanks for letting me share.
p.s. I believe Hari's father is also the oldest sibling on "Beautiful Days" at least a younger Hari's father.

;D kamsa hamnida for the synopses - I had not been watching this show but I happened to tune it in and I became interested. I did miss a lot of the beginning episodes but will try to keep up with it from now on. Everyone on this board is so nice to help out other members when they miss episodes, like me LOL. Thanks again all of you who took the time to answer my questions. It's very much appreciated.

Looks like they did it again. In last night's episode...May 22... they referred to Soi as Hari's mother-in-law to be. So, the original mistake made by the translator seems to be repeated again. What is going on?

Elaine - That's just a way of life in translating Korean dramas. Personally, I’m glad to be able to read some form of translation; it’s very frustrating to watch one of these dramas without it.
Thanks for letting me share.
