Just in case anyone was wondering, as I was, about the musical instrument that Taejong gave his son...The instrument is called a geomungo. It's described as somewhat like a zither, but a very large one. Here are some details about the instrument: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeomungoThis is a video of one being played: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISXBOj7xiX8And a video of a gorgeous Korean piece played by a trio that includes a geomungo (although it's not as prominent in the piece as the other two instruments are): www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gtC6bd3NOAInteresting stuff.

There used to be a show an ch41 around 7:00PM Saturday that featured contemporary music played on traditional instruments. It was much more accessable to my modern ears than what we hear on the historical dramas. Some of the instruments were quite unusual; I used to have fun searching the Web to find what they were. I was particularly struck by a large cylindrical wind instrument, sort of like a panpipe meets a harmonica. I dont remember the name, though :

That's it! The one I saw was a bit more modern-looking, with metal pipes, I think.
