Hello:
You guys might remember me asking you whether DJY was worth the $400 price tag back when it was in it's 20th hour or so. Most of those who responded indicated that they didn't think it was worth the money and that IYS would be a better choice.
Now that the series is almost over, may I ask you again? Do you guys still think it isn't worth the money? I noticed there's quite a few posts here about the series. Still further, I've read it's a big hit in Korea. Perhaps it just got off to a slow start.
Anyway, have you guys changed your mind?
Good health

I know that I am one person who isn't going to be able to afford $400 for the set. I would love to have it but not right now.

I'm a new member of the fan club. I enjoyed watching the IYSS series and now I'm enjoying the Dae JoYoung series. I would definitely purchase DJY when it is released. Thanks to your club and postings I now know how to purchase IYSS, the whole set.

Hmmm..400 for DJY? IYSS is probably worth it, but DJY is worth no more than 200, IMHO....

Before there's any more discussion about this....The KBS America e-store still lists DJY as a 100-episode series and quotes a $400 price on that basis. But because the series was lengthened and now runs 136 episodes, the actual price may end up being be higher than $400. The site carries a couple of series in the range of 167 to 170 episodes and those are priced at $500. So if that's the rule, I'd expect DJY to be priced at $450 or so. Maybe they'll leave it at $400, but I wouldn't count on it.
And no, I wouldn't spend $400 or $450 for it. If there were an edited version that took out all of the unnecessary filler material and cost less, I might consider that, but the full series just runs too many episodes for me and has too much not-so-great stuff in it to spend that kind of money. Too bad, because there certainly have been some terrific stories and scenes in the series.

You can also get single episodes for $6:00 a pop ...thats good for those who missed 117 or myself i missed the ep where Yang Man Chun was assassinated .
$400 for the whole 100 or maybe 450 for 136 right off the bat thats steep and out of my range right now but if i had 400 to spare (probably wont happen this year )id really consider knuckling down and purchasing it, though honestly i think $250:00 would be a fair price but KBS don't so why dream .
If i had the 400 id go for IYSS because i have never seen it and have heard so much about it .

Hello, In my opinion anywhere Choi Su Jong is the leading actor is worth the price that the company is charging. If everyone is reading about the comment of many about the series "Dae Jo Young", and the comment for the brilliant Choi Su Jong, the price of $400.00 for the entire series is worth it. And also so many other good actors in the series as well. Thank you, cms042348@aol.com

I think cost is relative. If I had that kind of $$, I'd buy ALL the historical series no matter what the price. But since I don't, $400 is too much. But I bet if you wait and wait and wait, the price will go down. I found Emperor of the Sea in Chinatown (NYC) for $65.

$400 is a fortune to me because I live on a shoestring budget. I don't spend anything on entertainment. However, if I had a generous budget, I would consider spending $250-$300 for DJY. It would be wonderful to see all the episodes without commercials, without signal distortions, and so on.

Glad you found EOTS ..Puppy . I think this is a great show in fact it was the show that got me interested in Korean Historical dramas having seen Jewel and Damo only before and not being impressed by either .
Jewel i did like but it just seemed "She's in the Palace "and "She's out of the Palace "just got too much as the plot just kept going over the same ground and Damo not a drama but a historical romp had the unforgivable sin of flying on wires a wee bit too much .
But i think any fan of DJY will just love Emperor (considering we wont get too see Wang Khun or Age Of Warriors )and Choi is just as good in this though maybe overshadowed a wee bit by the than future Jumong (don't bother with that one )Sung Il Gook as Yeom Jang .
