Hi Alexa, I could be wrong, but I don't believe that episode 9 has shown yet on AZN. Are you watching on KBS ? Maybe I'm confussed. Modified: Never mind. You're right. Ep. 8 & 9 was last week. Sorry.

Well, let's see, I can try to do this from memory too - briefly and not as awesomely. I have been taping from AZN and am getting behind - Episode 12 aired on Friday but I have only watched through Episode 10. Of course KOCH is up to Episode 11 now as of last week I think?
Episode 8 ended after the singing contest, with a drunken Chairman Hwang banging on the doors of Hwaandang with the elders all inside. The elders then come out, tell Chairman Hwang "you're still a cow thief to us", tell him to get out, and then storm off. Notwithstanding this, Suha and her staff let in the Hwang contingent, in view of how the Chairman is just about unconscious with drink, and actually let them sleep in the master bedroom, fulfilling that ambition of his!
In the middle of the night, Chairman Hwang wakes up and starts wandering around the old place to see how it looks - he is distressed at how falling-apart it is. The two cousins wake up and realize they had better go find him before Gramps (Byoeng-tae) finds him and brains him with the stick he carries everywhere. Donggyu gets Suha involved in the search. This is a huge place apparently.
In the course of wandering around and not finding the Chairman, Donggyu and Suha take a rest by the side of a lovely pool and they have a lovely moment where he takes her hand and they stare at each other and she starts to really fall for him. Chanmin comes up behind them unbeknownst and sees this with great displeasure. (After this is where he starts to get really nasty.)
Gramps does find Chairman Hwang and chases him around but I don't remember anything else of real importance happening and so then they all go back to Seoul. Oh! Except we find out that the reason Chairman Hwang snuck off in the night with the cow was that he had a thing for Granny when she was a young retainer, and then he overheard a scene between her and some guy which caused him to conclude she was betraying him (he MIGHT have misinterpreted this, I think, from something she said) and so that was when he went off. She still has a soft spot for him, I think.
Meantime Hwaran is working on her scheme to turn Hwaandang into a theme park. She is walking around with a pile of papers and they blow away in the wind and one of them lands on the windshield of an approaching car and the driver just about runs her down, grazing her a little maybe. Who is it but Jun-young (Suha's half-brother)! Hwaran figures out who he is pretty quick and actually remembers him coming down to the estate as a child in the old days. She gets him to take her out for Krispy Kremes - for what purpose is not clear at that point but it seems maybe she is pumping him for information.
Later on in the show she is going around working the real estate end of it and then she makes a phone call to a reporter, and we don't know what she is up to but it all becomes clear in Episode 10.
In the meantime, Chanmin takes Suha out to a manor which really HAS been turned into a theme park, meaning not something like Six Flags but more like something with cafés and boat rides and stuff. She looks around and for just a minute she thinks that there might be something to the idea, what with the revenues from ticket sales and stuff.
Then she sees a nasty confrontation developing between a little middle-aged guy and a bunch of tacky-looking gangster guys who want to go drinking in the "hallowed place". The little guy wants to keep them out, but the gangster guys are getting violent. Suha steps in on the side of the manor guy, of course, and then Chan-min comes over and goes all martial arts super hero on them and kicks their butts and chases them all off! I didn't know he had it in him, frankly!
It turns out that the manor guy is the 38th grandson of that particular clan (or whatever) and he had been in exactly the same spot as Suha and did the theme park conversion because there was no money to maintain the place and the stingy elders wouldn't come up with any, but now he is regretting it, because he can't even protect the hallowed places and stuff. They go on talking and the manor guy breaks out the house wine!! NOO!! SUHAA!!! You can't handle that stuff!!! Oh, God, it's too late, she gets herself smashed and is now rambling drunkenly about the question of manor preservation. Suha = Britney!!! Maybe turn Hwaandang into a rehab place, how about that? Chan-min rents a room and is carrying the nearly-unconscious Suha there on his back!
Oh, yes, this is important, unless I am mixing up episodes some this was the day Donggyu was actually going to propose!! He had invited Suha to lunch and gotten all sorts of balloons and stuff, because it said on some website that this was what you do, and was waiting for her, and rehearses a heartfelt little speech to her, but meanwhile Suha had been dragged off to the manor theme park by Chan-min and of course didn't understand the importance of it all to poor Donggyu, but just called him to say she was held up. Donggyu puts Mr. Jang on the case and he finds out that Chan-min has checked her into a hotel out at the theme park! Donggyu, fearing the worst, races out there! Now Chan-min actually has the unconscious Suha on the bed with who knows what intentions, while Donggyu, who has seen how she gets when she gets to hitting the good wine, is racing frantically across the grounds trying to get to her and rescue her from who knows what fate! End of episode!

About those balloons… he blew them all up one by one in his office, and then stashed them in the trunk of his car. Later, after drinking with his Aunt, he showed her the surprise he had waiting for Suha by opening the trunk and having her watch almost all the balloons rise up into the sky. So apparently this guy is full of hot air??

Not exactly, zorro, I don't think .... this was in Episode 10, so I'll throw in a little spoiler space ....
Episode 10 Spoiler below! . . . . . . . . . . . . Yes, he comes back to the car with Yu-il and is very drunk and he opens the trunk and he sees the balloons fly into the air, but THEN he sees and we see (this is how I interpret it) that this was just a few seconds of fantasy sequence, and in fact the balloons are just sitting in the trunk, sadly deflated! and he starts crying about it, "Why won't you fly??!" and kicks them around in his sad drunkenness. A sad and symbolic and funny scene :-)

Good catch, I missed the fantasy reference. I do remember him getting upset at the "dud" balloons, but thought they were a few at the bottom, not the whole bunch. I still wonder if Suha had shown whether or not he thought the balloons would "fly". That may have been more embarrassing than what actually happened.

When he was waiting for My Lady in the restaurant, there were balloons floating above the table. At that point I wondered how he got them to ascend when he didn't use helium to blow them up. I think those in the trunk of the car were more of the same.
