Gulsabiwu has been watching Geumlan with a quiet admiration for a long time. Although I'm not so sure he has admitted it to himself yet, I think 'biwu has definitely fallen for her. And I'm thinking that Geumlan returns the feeling . Who wouldn't? 'Biwu's got the dark-eyes, the silent smile, and the quiet, firm voice---the perfect ingredients for a heart-throb-to-be. Although Geumlan has strong feelings of loyalty to Mimosa, I wouldn't go so far as to say that they are a potential couple. To me, it seems to be more of a very close, master/servant relationship. But of course, time will tell...

But of course, time will tell... A few episodes back, in one of those stupid contrived scenes where Biwu lashes out at Geumlan, whose only fault was that she had expressed reservations about the strategy (part of DJY's idiotic "contest" to see who among his top lieutenants could capture their objective, first), he said some incredibly stupid things that caught his officers by surprise, given that it was a known fact that Biwu had always held Geumlan in such high regard. Biwu's response was less than convincing: he wanted to stir a lot of anger within her that she could direct at the enemy. Um, I don't think Geumlan needs much prodding in that direction, but if Biwu were looking to lose his head somehow, getting Geumlan angry would be just the thing! Not surprisingly, she went back to Mimosa and requested that she serve under him instead only to be reminded that for this campaign, her "master" is Biwu. In a way, it seems like Mimosa is gently pushing Geumlan in Biwu's direction....

I didn't like how Gulsabiwu suddenly lashed out at Geumlan and called her some rather hurtful names, even if it had a hidden purpose. I suppose it had the desired effect, but still. Do you think Mimosa is aware of Geumlan's feelings for Gulsibwiu, and vice-versa?....

I think that Mimosa is aware of Geumlan's feelings for Gulsibwiu. But it gets me that Gulsibwiu loves to see how mad he can get Geumlan at times. I guess it is a guy thing. lol

I saw one site (wikipedia.com) that called Geulman, Mimosa's little sister. So I guess she is his ward. As a young girl, someone or some group had buried her alive. Mimosa rescued her and thus began a relationship. I like her humilty and her attitude towards him. As I mentioned previously, Mimosa has an air of mystery to him....

Geumlan and Gulsabiwu are warriors, so perhaps their romance proceeds differently to the average romance. Any Star Trek fans will recall how Klingons behave when in love. It's a (tiny) little bit like that, IMO.

It's a (tiny) little bit like that, IMO. Heheheh...Geumlan and Gulsabiwu as secret Klingon warriors sent to Earth...But as of eps. 104, there is still no "romance" to speak of....Then again, considering the lives they lead, that doesn't suprise me one bit....Geumlan herself has stated more than once that she doesn't regard herself as a "woman." No, not that she thinks herself as a man; Through the years, she has managed to suppress that side of her that is capable of romantic love. I think Biwu is the same, as well. All these years and he still hasn't settled down with anyone, as far as I can tell. But looking back on that conversation that he and Geumlan had, I thought the timing was bad for them to ask themselves those questions....By that point, Geumlan and Biwu and been comrades-at-arms for at least twelve years....Why did it take so long for him to even bring up the subject? Come to think of it, a lot of the conversations between some of these characters seem unusual for people who have been together for so long.....

Well, i think in the romance aspect, Heuk Sudol is actually "superior" to Gulsabiwu! He had the guts to act on his feelings, such that he now has a wife that he is happy to get back to (unlike Xue Rengui-- he mentions a wife when he first met Geumlan, but would rather NOT go home).
While Heuk Sudol might be the "slower" one intellectually, emotionally, Biwu is pretty slow himself...but he & Geumlan are making some progress. Doesn't crisis bring out the romance, at least in TVshows & movies?

I don't mind at all the fact that it's taken so long to develop. People grow and change at different rates, their priorities change, etc etc. Some people want to get married at 18 or even earlier, others never do. Remember that even DJY didn't step right up and marry Sukyoung when he first had the chance. It took quite a while for him to come around to the idea, and then only after some prodding from Sejong and DJS.
Geumlan has always struck me as having a lot of stuff repressed inside her, stuff that she's been hurting from. (I don't know what; she just seems to be carrying around some scars, the kind that take time to get past emotionally.) And Gulsabiwu, I just don't think he knows how to deal with women. His early scenes with Chulin would support that, and that scene in the strategy meeting in #103 just couldn't have been any clumsier on his part. ("Stop yapping like a bitch"? Ugh.) I actually liked how he asked her about Mimosa so tentatively; it was like he was stepping onto ground that he felt very uncomfortable on. You have to think they'll end up together eventually and I hope the writers handle it well, because it could actually be very touching to watch them slowly start to open up to each other.
P.S. That's a great reference, tinkerbell. I had forgotten about Ms. Peel but yeah she may well have been the first one.

So there is a basis for feelings between Mimosa and Geumlan. I thought I detected something, but as I've been reading here, perhaps it's loyalty on Geumlan's part, and protectiveness on Mimosa's. I like Mimosa a lot, he's smart but laid back about it. (though the one time he had tea with Shin Hong, at Tsui Sing Lau, I thought he gave away a little too much, and confirmed Shin's suspicions)
