I loved the scene between Geom and Dan (DJS's legitimate son) back a few episodes where Dae JoYoung got drunk with Khan, celebrating the victory over Tang. Geom gets to play teacher and "elder" to Dan in the same way that DJS relates to him. And when he passes on his wisdom to Dan about being a man (sorry for the rhyme!), you can see Dan reacting just the way Geom does when DJS gives him advice.
It was also a cute scene showing how a new young warrior behaves, with Dan having his first drink of wine after his first time in battle. Also paralleled the scene of the elders, DJS and Khan drinking too much, and Geom and Dan drinking.... just a little. It made sense for the youngest generation to go off on their own.
And Dan was adorably defensive when he tried to be grown up: "I am a man!"
The scene was especially poignant when you realize that Geom is really Dan's older brother and thus it is appropriate for him to take Dan under his wing.
It paid off later because after the assassination attempt on DJS, when Dan says to Mimosa that he has to do something before coming back to stay with his father, he goes off and gets Geom.
But I haven't seen Dan in a while, so maybe that is all we will see of the budding Geom-Dan relationship.

And how it was Goem that Dan came to for help after the attempted murder of DJY. . .I loved that scene when Goem came marching in saying in a tough voice, "What's going on here?!" with Dan standing triumphiantly behind him. Too bad Goem couldn't keep Shin Hong in jail permenantly, or even better, put his head in a box. I also liked last night's scene (epi. 97) when Goem came to DJY with tears in his eyes and his bottom lip trembling like a child: "General...please don't hate me. I wouldn't want the man I respect and admire to hate me." That was just so endearing! Yes, jochicago, you got my favorite line/scene: (Dan makes a cute face and says) "But I am a man!"

Yeah, it was a great scene although I managed to smirk when Geom made a positive reference to his "dad," Li Kaigu...The same "dad" who refused an urgent request by DYJ for additional soldiers for the frontline. Li Kaigu was being pragmatic and sinister at the same time, and I was sure that Geom learned the "right" lessons from their little exchange especially since DYJ came out of the battle an even bigger hero....

The other son's name is Jeok. What cracks me up (and maybe it's just me) is that both of those kids look a little like Sun Wanrong! Don't they? More than they look like DJY, at least.

I like how the show is developing the relationship between Geom and Dan. We see them getting closer -- and, as the only two "leader" who aren't bearded (that is, they are the young ones), it is natural that they hang out together. Dan clearly looks up to Geom, and his father thinks Dan can learn from Geom. And Dan wants to do everything Geom does -- I think not only so that he won't be outshone by the son of Khitan's leader, but because he wants do what what his hero does. It is adorable.
