Goem confronts Li Kaigu and tells him exactly what he knows, and that he doesn't like it. "Daddy" sure wasn't prepared for that. Goem hit it on the nail: Li Kaigu was going to let DJY's army take the blow, and come close to complete annihilation. Then he was going to play hero and ride out there with his Khitans save the day. Goem made it plain that he did not like it, and that it was downright wrong. "Forgive me Father, but what you are doing is cowardly." You saw Kaigu's and Chulin's reaction: shut up and mind your own business.

It was 94 (Thanks for trying both!)
Yeah -- it shows the difference between the Khan & Kaigu...and that this drama is far from over!

Geom is his father's son, all right, and it drives Li Kaigu insane!

Funny how the only Khitan (except for the Khan) truly supporting DJY is DJY's own son.
It's that imperial energy! ;D

Geom may be DJY's biological son, but for him to stand up to the person in charge and speak his mind so fearlessly, that's Li Kaigu all over. We saw Kaigu do it to the empress, when he threw her own I-promise-to-give-you-Yingzhou letter right back in her face (still one of my favorite scenes of the whole series), and we just saw it again when he told Xue Rengui that he was doomed trying to fight for personal glory against people protecting their lives and homes. Ironic that Goem would do it to him, but it was neat to see Geom behaving like Kaigu.
Anybody notice that they blew another cliffhanger? At the end of 93 everybody was on pins and needles waiting for DJY to reveal his brilliant idea, but as 94 started he's asking Mimosa for help trying to come up with an idea! Ugh. But I really liked the whole deception strategy with the refugees and the torches. This was much, much more substantial and believable than dragging a bunch of branches around, plus it went along with Xue Rengui's belief about how much friction there would be between DJY and Li Kaigu. And the fact that they actually moved the whole army out into the hills, not only does that further the deception but it also is going to force the Khitans to do their share of the fighting after all. Great stuff.

I have notice that Geom is really learning from DJY. I think the Khan likes that he is. But I have a funny feeling that Li Kaigu will put a stop to it if he could.
