I don't think it is meant to portray DJY or as some one said, Mimosa (!) as the Messiah. I don't know how to explain this clearly so please bear with me. Ancient medical knowledge is actually more advanced that today. It has to do a lot with internal qi and balancing your yin and yang. There are today even healers who can do what Mimosa did for DJY. A friend of mine was badly hurt in a motor accident. After MONTHS of intense qi healing by a chinese medical doctor, he was able to walk with crutches, then with a walking stick. Now two years later, he is still continuing with treatment and walks with a limp. No-one in Korea who saw the show thought of the connection to the Messiah. And there are now more Christians than Buddhists in Korea! Yi(or Lee) Myung Bak, the newly elected President of Korea is a Christian as well

A savior or Massiah was predicted in ancient writings. Those who later called themselves Christians believed it was Jesus. The Jews weren't so sure and are still waiting. Is there any early Korean prophesy about DJY? Was there supposed to be a liberator on the way, but in more of a political than religious sense, freeing Gorguryeo from Tang oppression? If so, it could be DJY and the messiah symbolism is intentional. What a great fan board this is. The thers seem heavy on who's cute and sexy. This one goes DEEP!

The really interesting question about all this is what the viewers think of it—do they like seeing DJY portrayed this way? Personally I think it’s a little silly, not because it offends me as a Christian (it doesn’t) but because it just seems so unnecessary. I mean, the guy had such a remarkable life and accomplished so much, why would anybody feel the need to embellish it all and suggest he was more than human? But that’s just me; maybe most people like it. I’d be interested to know everyone else’s reactions to it. I don't take offense either (I'm a Christian as well). I agree that it wasn't necessary, but it never really bothered me when they made the "comparisons".
