Politics certainly does make for strange bedfellows. So we've got Xue pulling Li Wen & Co. out of jail to fight under his unified command to defeat---Li Kaigu and Dae JoYoung??? This is jaw dropping and yet it's plausible. And how about the Shin Hong/Mimosa pairing? Too wierd for words. Did anyone notice how Hong reacted when Mimosa took him up on his request to join forces with him? Hong seemed really irked that Mimosa would agree. Then why offer? And all the back and forth between Dae JoYoung and Goem! Goem wanting to fly the flag in battle because he likes it "for no particular reason"? WHEN are they going to discover that they are father and son? Why doesn't Biwu open his mouth? It's really beginning to bug me about that. I've been thinking about why/how Li Kaigu has been able to put out of his mind the unpleasant truth that Goem is the son of DJY and not himself. Perhaps it's because he enjoys the idea of punishing DJY by denying him his son, just as he (Li Kaigu) was denied HIS father by DJY's father killing him. It was odd how Li Kaigu would discuss the death of his father with DJY's father---out of the blue. Wasn't very believeable to me.

I felt like this episode was the "All Star" game of battles… everyone who's been anyone is involved. Should be some very exciting developments with all these characters at each others' throats. Xue was sartorially resplendent complete with a new and larger feather duster. Hongpei on the other hand… dashing? And I'm just waiting for DJ to give Geom his flag, and then hear Geom say: "I wish *you* were my dad…" I think LK is sensing Geom's admiration for DJ and it's getting to him. Also, wasn't he drinking when he was trying to bait Dae Jungsang about who killed his father?

Yeah, Li Kaigu Was drinking at the time. He probably needed the booze to get up the nerve to talk about it.
And did we EVER know who his father was? Wasn't he a colleague of DJY's dad and wasn't he killed in self-defence? What was it that caused them to come to blows?

Li Kaigu's dad was Bu Jigwang(not accurately in history nor is he related to Bu Kiwon as Bu Jigwang and Bu Kiwon are both fictional) and he hates DJS as he is the one that killed his father. DJY has been Li Kaigu's rival ever since like they first met. BTW, this whole 'Li Kaigu the greatest Khitan warrior' thing is a fake, because Li Kaigu, just like Xue Rengui, is a Khitan who betrays his tribe and works for the Chinese from beginning to the end in real history. And no, Li Kaigu is not of Goguryeon heritage in real history.

Yeah, some interesting stuff developing now. The Li Wen thing, Xue put his personal feelings aside because he wants to get the job done. Definitely plausible and you have to respect that. (Although when the empress said "Li Wen is being held behind bars" my immediate reaction was "Add more bars!!")
But this business about DJY believing he'll be handed his refugees back if he disbands his army and his soldiers fight for somebody else....Yeah, sure, just like the Khitans got Yingzhou after fighting for someone else, and just like Gaepilsamun's tribe came out so well after fighting for someone else (which DJY had a big part in). And besides that, didn't Li Kaigu already bully his way into stopping the hand-over after it was promised? Didn't that JUST happen? And it won't happen again? Ugh. DJY isn't stupid and this is something he'd never agree to. I think this is another pad-the-thirty-extra-episodes move to get more material, but it's completely out of character.
That Bu Jigwang stuff was way, way back at the beginning. He was with DJS at Ansi, and there was also that ugly scene where his family was being held by Tang and being tortured. I think Tang sent him a message (wasn't it through Shin Hong, who was a family servant then?) and told him to open up the Ansi gate for an ambush if he wanted his family released, and he did it and then he and DJS fought it out in the woods (which we saw in a flashback later on, and wasn't Shin standing there behind a tree watching it?) and Jigwang just kind of let DJS kill him. I think that was the deal, around #3. That's what's ironic about all this—DJS didn't kill the guy as much as he killed himself to reclaim his honor, but Li Kaigu and Shin Hong think it was some kind of awful murder.
Oooh, I like the double-agent thing! Let the conspiracy theories fly.

I hope Dae Jung Sang watches his back now. Li Kaigu was acting creepy and threatening, IMO. I wonder how sneaky Li could be, or if he'd want to kill him as a warrior, out in the open in combat.

And of course, Li Wen hasn't learned a thing about DJY, even after "the Emperor" left him to rot in jail . (We saw Xue's reaction: "Phew! Go take a bath first!") When Xue seems concerned about DJY's actions, Li Wen's first reaction is "I suppose you're getting too old to handle these things." Hasn't the idiot learned anything after all of his humiliating experiences with DJY? Come now! Seriously though, this thing with Goem is almost too much for me to bear. Let's be realistic---doesn't Goem, at age 20, look anything like his father? Surely someone would have noticed the likeness by now! And wouldn't DJS have been the first to notice? Now, although I am sure nobody feels this way, I am going to stick my neck out on this one---I do not like Xue's new ceremonial cape! To me it looks silly on him. . .and it looks like he's wearing crumpled pieces of cardboard on the shoulder area. No thank you. "Hongpei. . .take that curtain off," Xue says. Well, if I had been Hongpei, I would have replied: "Only if you take that tablecloth off, Chongoon."

What you say about the X-Man's outfit is true, Nalbal. But, hey, at least he got a brand-new and very grand feather duster! It looks like he met Miss Clairol since he accepted Emperor Shengshen's offer, too.
