What is the deal with Gulsabiwu? He seemed upset at the fact that Dongmyunchun (I'm sure I'm spelling it wrong) League is killing of the Tang officials. Has he started to trust Xue Rengui? He seemed somewhat touched that Xue would give Gulsabiwu his own sword.
by the way, I realized yesterday that Gulsabiwu is the same guy who played the King in Yi Soon Shin.

He is now pretending to be on the general Sol side to protect Chorin and Dae Jo Young's baby which is in Chorin's womb. He later escapes from Sol and joins DongMyongCheonJeDan(DongMyong means the Light of East and it is the title of Jumong, founder of Koguryeo. CheonJe means Lord of the heaven). Bogang Taewang and the members hope to recover the past glory of Koguryeo. That's why they named the group the title of its founder. Yes He was Sunjo Daewang in Yi Shun Shin.

...He seemed somewhat touched that Xue would give Gulsabiwu his own sword. Perhaps, but I think it was more shock than anything else. Like "FeatherDuster" said, he's never given his sword to anyone. It was an honor for Gulsabiwu to get that sword, but Gulsa' knows that he is going to betray Xui sooner or later. Receiving that sword also shows that Xui has complete faith in him, and Gulsa' is going to have to betray that faith. That is probably why, I think, Gulsabiwu reacted the way he did (all wide-eyed and speechless).

I was shocked to see Gulsa get so fierce. Did he think someone was watching, so he'd earn credits from Xui? It looked like he forgot what side he's on.

again this is all fictional because Gulsabiwu never worked for Xue in real history

We can see the brilliance of Xue in setting up Biwu! He doesn't trust Anybody. Again, we see the great risk-taker/gambler in Xue. Laying there with his back to such a great warrior. Gulsabiwu could have finished him off, even if he WERE pretending to sleep. Xue read the cards correctly. He Knew that Gulsabiwu wouldn't betray him for anyone other than DJY!!! It was great to see Gulsabiwu reunite with Heuk Sudol and DYJ but he's a marked man now. And I don't trust Mimosa. I think he's got his own agenda. And spit it out Gulsabiwu! Tell Dae Jo Young about his child! And Alexa---isn't this a great role for the actor who is playing Biwu? What a meaty role next to that mealy, jealous, petty king in YSS. He's got to be enjoying this role more.

In my opinion, the actor who plays Gulsabiwu here didn't get a very good role in the IYSS series. His job was to sit on the throne and look dismayed, stressed, confused, and angry at all times. And he turned out to be somewhat of a villain, which is unfortunate...it was a very simple role and the actor, as you say BD, has to be enjoying his role in this series so much better. He really is doing a great job; hope he keeps up the good work . And I figured, Truth, that the thing with 'biwu and Xui was fictional, because it was just too much for me to believe. Great bit of writing, and it was an interesting twist. But as someone pointed out before, this is a drama, so a good fraction of this is fictional, as must be expected. However, it is a great story, and I'm looking forward to the next episode .

Biwu in real history, he died during the battle between Goguryeo displaced people lead by him and troops of Yi Hae Go (also real one but don't know if he was a authentic goguryeo blood in history). In the drama, however, I know he will be alive to the last of the drama and will become one of great figures to found Balhae supporting Dae Jo Young.
