Sorry JP for not putting an Episode Number in my Title for the thread. And the thread discusses Episodes 21-23.

That's right, he (Shin whoever) didn't want to fight at one point because his family was vulnerable or held hostage or behind enemy lines. So he was planning to open the gates to the fort in a bargain to save their lives.

I just watched this episode last night. YGSM was a pretty incredible person. I loved his character on this drama. It was interesting to hear some of his history as well.
Question on an earlier post in this thread. Wouldn't three years before 666 be 669 BC? I thought that dates BC got smaller as they got closer to 0? so that 669 BC would be earlier than 666 BC. Anyway, I am also surprised that anyone was able to live more than 60 years during that time period, especially a warrior.

I don't think it's BC. AD is early enough.

People of the Goguryeo period lived unusually longer than people of other period.
They lived so long that a brother of the Goguryeo king, who was 72 years old, kicked the king off the throne, who was 103 years old.

It is AD.
People of all races generally lived longer back then. Grrr. Natural selection pretty much eliminated the rest who weren't able to develop proper survival techniques. And till this day some cultures tend to live longer than another's.

Regarding Episode 25...
Anyone else getting really sick of Chulin? I wish that her part of the story would just get resolved already... And I know Xue Rengui is supposed to be a villan, but i ike his style. I really respect the way he declined to implicate either the Empress or the Khitan tribe even though doing so would have gotten him his title back. That's true loyalty for you!

Too bad Chulin's wound wasn't lower and and on the left. And like you, Nizama. I was very impressed with Xue's loyalty. I find his character a little on the dark side, but mixed with a good measure of humor. We've all seen the actor who plays the role of Xue in many other dramas .... and I'm pretty sure we would all agree that he is really a very talented actor. Let's hope that Dae Joyoung doesn't harbor some goofy romantic feelings for Chulin... better he fall in love with whozit's daugher who was praying in the temple.

Lol, kathleen, "whozit's daughter"! She's Suk-young, the niece of King Bojang. I like the actress and her character and it seems like Suk-young is developing a bit of a crush on Dae Jo Young. But the bloke doesn't even deserve her, what with him running around trying to protect the woman who tried to kill the man he works for! This is sorely disappointing. The Great Dae Jo Young falling for the enemy and willing to risk his employer's life over her! Xue Rengui has quite a standing with me. I count him to be one talented warrior for whom circumstances turned out a horrible fate. The actor is indeed versatile and adaptive to any character that he plays. I would much rather see Xue Rengui throughout the rest of the drama than Kaigu and Chulin, who are not formidable enemies in the least.

But neither Chulin nor Dae Jo Young are enjoying their attraction - they know it's a bad idea, even impossible, to do anything about it. It does add some spice to have romantic triangles and quadrangles. Poor Li Kaigu isn't making any headway, tho. He has to keep gritting his teeth. ;D
I hope the niece isn't taken hostage by Chulin, tho. I like her.

Okay, here's the fact.
Dae Jo-Young never loved Chorin(American TV name : Chulin).
Chorin(a.k.a Chulin) is a fictional character. Another word, she's not real.
Princess Sook Young is also a fictional character.
Yeon Gae So Moon doesn't really get killed by General Seol In Gwui (American TV name : Xue Rengui). He dies of natural cause.
Bu Ki Won and Sa Bu Gu are fictional characters. Shin Hong is a fictional character.
Dae Joong Sang never worked for Yang Man Chun just like Dae Jo Young never worked for Yeon Gae So Moon.
Li Kaigu's Korean name is Lee Haego.
Li Shimin's Korean name is Lee Sae-min.
Gulsa Biwoo NEVER worked for Goguryeo because he WAS NOT Korean, he was the leader of the Malgal tribe, and his age was close to Dae Joong Sang, not the son.

I must be the *only* one who likes Chulin. She's a tomboy with fiery eyes and the only woman warrior who can fight as well as the men, injuries not withstanding. Plus she's hot, so by "man rule" DJY and Li Haigu have to like her. As far as the attraction to "Captain Dae", both she and Sukyeong's lives were saved by DJY. It would only seem a natural reaction, although for me, Sukyeong belongs more with Eunho from Hwang Jini… she looks childlike next to Dae. I do like her personality tho, and she is beautiful of course. Good thing Dae has imperial energy… I think he's going to need it.

I know it says "spoilers", but I really didn't want to know all that.

They're not spoilers. Just what actually happened in history. But in any case, consider my post gone.
