There is no Geom but if you look in the second pic you can see Geom's sidekick ...that looks ominous .

I am looking at the first 10 minutes or so of eps. 132....Very dramatic! The final confrontation between DJY and evil one-eyed pirate Li Kaigu....Li dies and Chulin drinks poison upon seeing Li's body one's last time....Chulin dies in DJY's arms....Very Very Dramatic!

The costumes are beautiful! Is that Goem behind DJY and to Dan's right? Does he survive to this point (even though he is fictional)?
I'm glad to see some sort of conclusion, finally.

Yup, Geom is definitely in the second pic right behind Dan just as MidwestMom indicated....I hope Chocopie comes back with a really good summary.....I will say about this though. King DJY's troubles are far from over, not by a long shot.....I still can't believe that Chulin committed suicide over that ?&!@@, Li Kaigu!

I don't know as much Korean as chocopie and others here, so I'm just going to describe what I saw. Ep. 130 Chulin, Taepyoung (Geom's nursemaid), DJS and Dolbal are exchanged by the riverside, but DJS stops in the middle of the river and steals a sword from a Tang soldier. He challenges the entire Tang army to a fight and gets stabbed by Li Kaigu the exact same way Bu Jigwang was killed by DJS earlier in the series (feigning an attack but reversing his sword instead). Not sure why; that's a question for chocopie. Actually, I think I guess why....Guilt. It was such a tragedy, the death of General Bu Bigwang (Li Kaigu's father)....He and DJS were the best of friends and General Bu only betrayed the Goguryeon army because the enemy had threatened to kill his parents (presumably they had been kidnapped). During what was to be their final encounter, General Bu turned his sword around thus allowed a completely stunned General DJS to kill him. If I remember correctly, General Bu regretted what he did and felt that it would be better to die and that it would be preferable that DJS do so. Later, General Yang Manchun bestowed great honors on General Bu for his military services and ordered that he be buried as a true hero of Goguryeo, especially since it was General Bu's plan that caused the annihilation of the million-man army that Tang had sent against them at about the beginning of this series. DJS never recovered from what had happened and he carried the burden of that guilt with him. It seemed he must have found out the truth after he had been captured by Li Kaigu. He felt that only way he could redeem himself was to allow Bigwang's son to kill him, and die just like Bigwang. General DJS was one of my favorite characters and always had that sad expression on his face even when he smiled. What a great character!

I have an observation--- Shin Hong's eyebrows appear to be getting longer, bushier, and taking over his face. It is very distracting.

I wonder what the special's (eps 135/6 )of DJY will be ?.I know you cannot compare but the Japanese Taiga Drama which is a year long 49/50 episode drama (usualy )depicting the life and death of some famous Samurai Warrior /Lord (as i say that the 2008 drama's is a womens drama about the last Tokugawa Princess )usualy conclude's with a special where the whole 44 hour drama is paired down to a abridged 4 hour version told in a flashback format by a surviving character from the drama .I know the Emp /Sea special was a making off so im guessing DJY will follow but it would be great if they did an abridged version .I used the Taiga drama as a referance point because the K Historical drama's are closer in style and format to the Japanese drama's than say the Chinese equivilant .

DJY has ended in South Korea. I just found this at KBS Global (http://english.kbs.co.kr/mcontents/entertainment/1497794_11692.html):
The KBS historical drama series "Dae Jo-young" ended Sunday after 134 episodes.
Launched in September last year and running for 15 months, the hit drama commanded weekend ratings of over 30 percent.
In a KBS/AGB Nielsen Media Research tally, ratings posted 36.8% for the 130th Dec. 9 episode.
In the final episode Sunday, the portrayal of the Balhae kingdom gaining amity with China's Tang dynasty's impressed the viewers. Many reportedly shed tears when Dae Jo-young (played by Choi Soo-jong) had to part ways with his son (Jeong Tae-woo).
The episode recorded 33.3% viewer ratings (AGB Nielsen Media), 5.2% point higher than Saturday, in the successful conclusion.
Awesome! Those of us who watch DJY on AZN-TV still have several months to go before we see the conclusion!

Why oh why did Chulin commit suicide? Is this an instance where the reasons would make perfect sense to a Korean, but not to a Westerner? I still can't fathom why Kyung Dae Seung knowingly kept drinking the poison in Age of Warriors.

Why oh why did Chulin commit suicide? Is this an instance where the reasons would make perfect sense to a Korean, but not to a Westerner? I still can't fathom why Kyung Dae Seung knowingly kept drinking the poison in Age of Warriors. She simply followed her lover as Juliet did in a Shakespeare's play. I think KBS killed her to try not to screw up the real history. In real history there is no any record that DJY loved Kithan lady nor had a son from Kithan lady. If they kept Cholin and Geom alive to the end of the drama, they could make audience consider that DJY's oldest son was a Kithan blood and Kithan tribe succeeded to Balhae, which is really not true. To complete the complex relationship between Cholin, Geom and DJY, KBS made Cholin commite suicide and Geom leave DJY with his two Kithan subjects in the last episode.
