The Cast

[Soju]

Since the cast for this show is so large, with the potential for confusion, I thought I'd post a guide to the cast. But, like I said, there's a lot of characters. So, this is only partially complete; I figured I ought to put up what I has so far before the last episode

I tried to get the Romanization of names as best I could, but some (probably a lot) will be different than the subtitler's. I hope to fine-tune this as well as get the rest of the characters listed.

This table doesn't graphically show the relationships between characters like KBS's, but if you go there, you can at least see the characters and their relationships (click on the circles to see a character; you can click on to go back to the chart. Dotted orange lines indicate romantic ties; dotted blue lines indicate family ties; and solid blue, "other".

	Han Yeon-kyeong (Yoo Ho-jeong) Executive at a clothing company. Has just found she may have cancer.
	Kang Yun-ho (Kim Yoon-seok) Photojournalist, Yeon-Kyeong's husband. At first very self-centered, he becomes very concerned about his wife's health
	Kang Min (Lee Byeong-jun) One of Yeon-kyeong and Yun-ho's sons
	Kang Jun (Park Da-bin) Their other son.
	Na Kyung-sun (Ban Hyo-jeong) Yun-ho's mother
	Choe Yun-seo (Park Ye-jin) Doctor. She and Yun-ho were classmates in college. She is in charge of the hospital fundraiser.
	Kong Sin-bu (Kim Yeung-su) A priest, he is the chaplain at the hospital. In spite of being a priest, he likes the nightlife.
	Yun Jin-soo (Oh Ji-ho) An actor, and neighbor of Yeon-kyeong and Yun-ho. A lothario, he is intrigued by the quiet Yun-seo when he agrees to be a celebrity guest for the fundraiser.
	Na Yun-suk (Ko Jeon-min) Jin-soo's wife. Depressed by her husband's wandering affections, her attention is icreasingly drawn to a local handyman.
	Yun Hyeon-ji (Kim Yu-jeong) Jin-soo and Yun-suk's older daughter.
	Yun Hyeon-ho (Lee Ti-el) Their younger daughter.
	Kim Jong-hyeok (Kim Seong-jun) A silent, somewhat mysterious handyman. He lives in the same house as Yeon-kyeong's sister.
	Han Kyeong-suk (Kim Jeong-nan) Yeon-kyeong's half-sister. She runs a bar, but the landlord has raised the annual deposit, and she found out the woman holding her savings has left town, leaving behind her daughter. She is very bitter about her father, and is estranged from Yeon-kyeong.
	Ka-eul (Park Hyu-ju) The hostess at Kyeong-suk's bar.
	Wang Bong-soo (Jeong Jin) A friend of Kyeong-suk. His job is to wear goofy outfits and get people to go to a bar.
	Lee In-seok (Kim Yu-seok) Doctor. He is very physically active, climbing mountains, bicycling, playing tennis, etc. He and Yeon-kyeong were sweethearts in college, until he dumped her. She is now his patient, and in spite of the fatct she is married, still has feelings for her.
	Kim Ki-ho (Kwon Hae-hyo) Doctor. An asscociate and friend of Dr. Lee, he fancies himself a ladies man, but is really a lonely guy.
	Yoo Yeon-sil (Kim Min-hui) The efficient head nurse, she is constantly annoyed by Nurse Na's mishaps.
	Na Man-cheol (Lee Du-il) Nurse. Rather clumsy and inept, it's his lifelong goal to be a nurse. He is attracted to Nurse Yoo.
	Chang Mi-ra (Seo Yeon-ju) Nurse.

The little girl, Min-hee, whose mother ran off with the money, is not listed on KBS's cast page.

Thanks for the photos, Soju. Just a question though, they didn't have pictures of the male nurse (Mancheol) or Dr. Kim? It seems that the cha cha lessons are more than filler in the plot.....or maybe not. Anyway, glad to see that you're supporting/viewing the show. By the way, as in the real medical world, don't underestimate the nurses. Oh, one more thing, Cho Yun-seo is an intern, not a nurse. Actually, one more picky thing, I feel that Yeon-kyeong's job is actually marketing....and for that matter, where's her sister, Kyungsook? What about the people she employs at the bar? What about the cute little girl that was abandoned by the woman that stole Kyungsook's money? She seems to be being pushed into a more prominent role, IMHO.
I'm not complaining about your valiant efforts, just trying to rile some interest in the masses. Thanks again.


Well, in true Karmic fashion, while I was sitting here leaving these stupid, sardonic criticisms the repeat of last night's show actually began at 1:00pm......I believe John Houseman's intro to the that show from the 80's went something like this, "It is a wise man who learns to expect the unexpected.", well I think we all knew by now that I am not a wise man........

They do have pictures, I just haven't gotten that far yet. It's kindof slow going; first I had to figure out how the tables on this board work, and once I got a few names on there, how to format the text file I'm composing it in so I can easily see where I left off. Then, when I reference KBS's chart, I have to transliterate the Hangul, which I can only do slowly

Baby Yun Hyeon-ho (Lee Ti-el)'s resume is more interesting than my own.

This picture gallery helps to define the characters. The little kids are all amazing. For little kids to actually grasp a character concept and be able to consistently do so... reflects such genuine acting skills

And the guy who's taking dancing lessons... let's see... he's been an architect, a doctor, an event planner... I would sure like to see him get the 'leading man' role at some point.

I just wish I had a little more commentary for Nurse Chang. There's only a line or two about her on KBS's site, and Babelfish was even less help than usual on that

i have started watching this out of desperation for a k-drama. i only began last weekend ( i watch in the ny/nj area on wmbc). i missed the beginning of the series altogether, as well as these particular episodes, and do not know what episode we are on in this area. i think we are ahead of chicago, however.

anyway, this list of the cast and the brief description has been very helpful.

I don't know if you saw it, but this show had a cameo appearance by th Archfiend himself, Lee Duk-hwa, as the president of Yeon-kyeong's company.

Yoonho, the husband, is played by Kim Yoonseok. Dr. Lee is played by Kim Yuseok. It seems to be the practice to have siblings share one syllable of their given names (the Chill sisters come to mind). So are these actors related--same family name and one syllable of the given name the same--although they don't look anything alike.

chi8, we've discussed this many times, and you'll probably see it brought up many other times. People in the same family, and sometimes cousins from the same generation, traditionally share one common syllable in their name--e.g., Ja-young, Seo-young, etc., or Min-joo, Min-jae, etc.

However, just because people have the same syllable in their name and the same family name does not mean they are related. This is because there are a limited number of Korean family names (Kim is HUGE, Lee is bigger), and also, for some reason they use the same common syllables all the time. So you see a lot of names with "young" and "ok" and "ju" in them, but those people are not all related.

I don't think I was very clear there. Was I?
