Thank you, sushimi, for the great photos!
On our left, of course, is Lee Jong-hyuk, who plays the city attorney trying to arrest gangsters.
Center, longtime Chicago fans will no doubt remember Han Ga-in, the actress who also played Sun-joo in “Yellow Handkerchief.” Here, she’s a slightly ditzy doctor who’s gotten fired from every job she’s had, since she sides with the patients in malpractice situations.
Right, a newcomer (to me at least) Yang Dong-gun. Compared (in some circles) to a minor Marlon Brando, he plays the reformed, but still rough-edged, gangster vying for the young doctor’s attention.
Alas, this is another MBC drama, so it won’t likely make it to Chicago. But, “MBC America” (I didn’t even know there was such at thing until a few weeks ago - but it’s good news nonetheless) is subtitling this drama for the English-speaking market. No doubt a DVD set will appear in the months ahead.
I’ve only watched up to episode #6, and though I found episodes 1-3 to be slow going, “Dr. Gang” is now probably my favorite currently running K-drama. Worth checking out, if it becomes available in your area.

I've seen it called "Dr. Khaeng," "Dr. Kang," "Dr. Gang," and even "Dr. Kkhang." To add to the confusion, during the opening credits, the MBC America subtitles don't show the title in English! I'm only calling it "Dr. Gang" because that's how the character's name is written in the subtitles during the show. One explanation: I've heard that the English word "Gang" has come to mean much the same thing in Korean - thus, the idea that he's really a "Gangster" doctor. I don't know if that's correct, though - it's just something I've seen discussed on other boards. So, I still have no idea what it will be called when it someday comes out on DVD.
