I am a black female in Long Beach, CA and happened this on Wednesday night, Jan 18 and I could not stop watching. I am so glad that there were subtitles but just looking at the actors and actresses faces and the acting...I loved it. I would like to know where to purchase this and if anyone has any info on show times here in Los Angeles County. I love dramas and films with subtitles and from other countries because it just seems like better quality.

Stay with us and you'll have some kindred spirits here. These stories are just more credible than any American 'drama'. The Korean characters are plagued with real everyday life :-[problems... unlike 'as the world turns' where at 2:00 in the afternoon people are dressed to the nine's and are jumping in and out of bed with their friends spouses. I digress.... anyway, glad you posted. ;D

Sans, those are exactly my thoughts on American soaps. Welcome to our board. As for purchasing the drama, you might have a little problem right now because yesasia.com does not have any k-dramas for sale due to a licensing dispute. We'll have to see what happens next.

There's a great site koreanwiz.org that I go to for all kinds of info on dramas, actors and news from Korea. There are links to message boards all over, so if you haven't found the ones in Calif., that's where to look. The stations in different locations aren't sychronized, so some people are farther ahead in some dramas, depending on where they live. Watching these shows has been really fun for me. I discovered Korean tv thru surfing, too.

There is so much to enjoy, learn and share from the excellent K-dramas that we are pretty much addicted to! (Truthfully, there were maybe only 2 or 3 dramas that I wasn't that interested in during the past few years.) We have learned so much about Korean history, culture, cuisine, housing, costuming, hairstyles ---especially from the historical dramas!!! Definitely, keep watching---you will not be disappointed.

Possible spoiler removed
finejade, I'm not sure we're as far as you. Episode 13 and 14--are we that far???
Bo
PS - I put your remark in the spoilers, just in case, finejade.

Okay, finejade, I'm sorry, I've been put straight. I took your post and put it into the "Young-ie" thread because people were asking about it there.
Bo
PS - but do be careful (I think you already are)--we only just watched episode 14 here and people are a little touchy about spoilers.

Well Sans, first of all, it's nice to meet you. In answer to your request, I have good news and bad news. Although you can purchase a copy of the series, as well as the soundtrack, it doesn't appear that it's being marketed with subtitles. If you'd like to see if I'm wrong (it happens) or see if there's something else you'd like to buy, try these links (I hope this trick works Chigirl) eclickkorea and KBSAmerica

I have hesitated to post this website, because it seems like it's skirting some rules, but since Yesasia does not have these dramas subtitled any more, here it is: www.dsdvds.comIt's called "Dim Sum Video" and it sells K-dramas from Hong Kong. Here is the page that has Rose Life (this show) on it: www.dsdvds.com/ktvdrama7.htmlNotice the ratings for the subtitles -- they can be "average" or "excellent." Rose Life has "excellent English" subtitles. I received Winter Sonata as a gift from this place, and the subtitles are excellent--only the NG reels and extras are not subtitled. Also, I have been warned that sometimes you can only see the subtitles if you listen to a Cantonese dub (these are from Hong Kong), but my subtitles were played to the Korean soundtrack. Finally, I have been informed (by my gift giver) that the shipping from this guy is huge (almost as much as the video itself). However, because the prices of the videos are so low, it is really a wash. Bo

No, I think Bo's talking about the website she posted a few weeks ago on another board. When she first told us about it, she said she wasn't sure if those people were totally in conformity with the copyright rules, but that she had no real way of knowing and they didn't seem like some evil scam company.

.....people just wanta have hallyu, you know... Bo Actually, Bo, no I don't. But I don't want to needlessly belabor a point. Just bear with me, I do learn eventually, I'm just a bit slow. 1:35am, Apparently not that slow, though, I happened to be reading about Korean dramas at Koreanwiz.org and now I understand the nomenclature. Everyone wants to hang 10! ;D
