I expect you were too busy with your Winter Sonata obsession to think much about where ol' koreanwiz was, Bae. Bo

... I happened to be reading about Korean dramas at Koreanwiz.org and now I understand the nomenclature. Everyone wants to hang 10! Ahhh! You at least figured out that koreanwiz lives in Hawaii, LOL. Bo Well, yeah, I did figure that out fairly quickly, but now I think I may have misunderstood you still. I thought that you were referring to "hanliu" to which my response was hanging ten while riding that wave. Oy, you must really think I'm thick now. But I heard a great quote from Gore Vidal that helps me in trying times, "I've arrived at the age where it's not so important to me what people think of me, but rather, what I think of them." Really Bo, I'm not that much of a problem child, I'll get with the program sooner or later. ;D

(Yes, I'm obnoxious. ) If you think you are a problem child, captain, you ain't been looking around this board enough, LOL. Except for the reading thing, you are a breeze...maybe we can Sylvanize you. Bo

Yes Bo, I am an awfully slow reader, which is why I prefer the medium of video. So can you answer the question as to why I now spend 75% of my television viewing at a station which requires reading subtitles?

... because people just wanta have hallyu, you know... Alright, it has occurred to me that we have still have yet to address the meaning of hallyu. Is it really obvious and I'm just that slow, or what?

Hallyu means Korean Wave, meaning the increased popularity of Korean entertainment around the world. I don't know if there's a literal meaning. Do you read Korean Wiz? She has a news page, usually about stars or commentary on culture. There have been several articles about hallyu.

Bae, the other one ;-), contributed to the rise in hallyu with his drama Winter Love Song. As has Bi.

Thanks, everybody, for the claification. Actually, it turns out that I did understand the terminology; I was using the spelling provided by KBS, which if the variations of English translations of show titles is any indication (they have finally decided to name "War of the Roses" "My Rosy Life", in case you happen to be looking for the DVD or OST) I don't feel so dumb anymore.
