I posted this info on the WML board, too (so this is basically a repeat). Jae-min's friend's cafe is above street level, and apparently, that is the norm in Seoul. Here's an interesting podcast about Korean cafe culture: Check out podcast #8 is about "cafe culture." Not only will you gain insight into Korean coffee houses and their importance to the culture, but there is a tangental conversation about Korean ideas on female modesty and why it is accepted to slap young women around. Please, please check it out. You can either subscribe through iTunes or listen directly on the web. It's about 35 minutes long. podcast pageBackground: This American living in Korea is making these podcasts mainly for expatriate English-speakers, but the rest of us could learn something and maybe expand our rosy pictures of the place. If you are offended by podcast #7, please look further on the page because he responds to someone else who was. You can join the conversation. Bo
