What is it that the aunt calls her sister? Anyone know? It's driving me crazy. It sounds like "seon" or "seol" or something. And as we all know, "older sister" is "unni."

I wouldn't be surprised if Okja made her sister call her Master or rather Mistress.

She calls her sister "seong". I asked Michael about this at the barbeque, but he wasn't sure. "Seong" can mean "master" (I think), and it could also be a play on "Hyong".

I guess GC was right... ^^ Maybe that appellation is what's customary for someone who's from a village?

It seems awful to call your own sister "Master" or "Boss" or however it translates. But that's what their relationship is. No way is Aunt really an aunt in that household--she's a servant. Granted, a top-tier servant--she has authority over the housekeeper--but she is not someone who can freely give advice to the children as an aunt or speak her mind without someone pulling rank on her. In everything she does, it seems to me, she's aware that her position there is dependent on the tolerance of her sister.
