Again, I'm bad with the names, so forgive my use of numbers to describe the characters.
When Son #1 took his betrothed to the hospital to announce their engagement, it was quite endearing to see how Grand Aunt warmly received them.
I just wish the bottom line of the subtitles hadn't been so messed up, b/c I missed about half of the dialog.
Can anyone fill me in on what Grand Aunt was saying to Son #1 when she was reminiscing about his childhood?
Thank God the actors are so emotive, it was easy to see how pleased she was and how touching it was for her to tease him like that.
Thanks for any additional information!

I can't fill in the info, Catalpa, because everyone would have had the same problem as you did (it's at KBC). And, I have not yet viewed it, maybe someone who knows some Korean would be able to help you, but I don't know who on this particular forum does. Also, welcome back! I haven't seen you posting in some time--maybe I just missed you. Bo

I can sort of fill you in on some of it, because I watched that scene over again with the slow advance function on my VCR. Certain parts, however, were never legible.
What she was saying to Ji-yeun was very nice. I'll only give you what I think were the missing parts. She said that from the time he was a little boy, Yoon-sik always moved her and made her glad. Although he may look different on the outside, Ji-yeun could not find a better husband. She said that when she was working and struggling in her earlier years, Yoon-sik would follow her around (and, I think, help her) and would bring her different foods and cosmetics.
He sounds like he was always a little gentleman, with good character. I like when Grand Aunt was so instantly happy to hear that Yoon-sik was getting married and told Ji-yeun, "You have good eyes." I think everyone in the family esteems him very highly (though I think his brothers think he's a little foolish) but understands that he may not be "love's young dream" to most girls, so any woman who loves him for who he is must be special herself. This glimpse into what he was like as a child makes me think that he has always respected women. What other little boy would run around helping an older aunt or even notice that she needed help? Ji-yeun is getting a good husband, as they say. I hope he is able to keep standing up for himself and, once the lovey-doveyness wears off, doesn't get sick of her. And I hope Ji-yeun develops respect for him as a man; she seems a little bossy still. Did you see how she put sugar in his tea for him as if he were a little boy?

Grand aunt was being nice to everybody except her own daughters it seems. She seemed really, genuinely happy for Yoonsik and Jieun.
Also she even complemented Goeun on her nice skin. She said it was like "ivory".
I thought it was funny how she was trying to be all hard saying she didn't need anybody in her hospital room but then calls to complain to her brother that he hasn't visited or called.
