"Ganggangsulae is the traditional game in that women hold hands and dance in circles, singing “Gang-gang-sullae.” Ganggangsullae originated in 1592 during the invasion of Korea by Japan. It was then that Admiral Yi Sun-shin ordered the women of a nearby village to wear military clothes and dance in circles around the mountains, hoping to confuse the Japanese into thinking that the Koreans had a greater number of soldiers than in reality. Admiral Yi Sun-shin won the battle as a result of the strategy." From Korean tourist board articleReminded me of the strategy used at the battle and seige of Jinju Fort. Bo
