This posting is ridiculously overdue, but now that I'm working my way through the DVD set I thought I should finally sit down to get it done.
I wanted simply to thank the people who have run this board and who have taken the time to post helpful information about the series. I'm a non-Korean who stumbled upon the series by accident (on WOCH/Chicago) without a clue as to what it was about or what was going on. Without this board and some of the material posted here, I would have gone bananas. I knew nothing about Korean history and don't speak the language, nor did I know anyone else who was watching the show. This board became invaluable as I got deeper and deeper into the story.
I appreciated the tips about the War Diary and the other relevant books, the links to useful websites, and the posts that offered historical background. And it was great to have the mugshot guide to link the names and faces. Hundreds of characters, some with similar names and many with similar uniforms...that guide saved me more than a few headaches.
IYSS is without question the best thing I've ever seen on television. The DVD set does not do it justice, to put it mildly (what a hatchet job). Let's hope that either KBS will release the entire series at some point, or that WOCH or some other station will give it a second airing. The series is a real credit to KBS for producing it and to the South Korean people for funding it. It deserves a much wider showing in this country.
So again, I thank those of you who shared their time and information on this board to make the series more enjoyable for everyone.
