1. Won Kyun and Yi Soon Shin are so buddy buddy during their youth (honestly, what were you all thinking? That's like saying Lincoln and Booth bought each other drinks before Booth offed him)
2. the personality switch of chun soo from devoted son and friendd, to disgruntled friend, to selling his own country to the japanese for money
3. the personality switch of mujik going from stealing from random strangers to giving morality lectures to Hong and Chun Soo (between #2 and #3 i don't know which is less plausible)
more to come

1. Won Kyun and Yi Soon Shin are so buddy buddy during their youth (honestly, what were you all thinking? That's like saying Lincoln and Booth bought each other drinks before Booth offed him) 2. the personality switch of chun soo from devoted son and friendd, to disgruntled friend, to selling his own country to the japanese for money 3. the personality switch of mujik going from stealing from random strangers to giving morality lectures to Hong and Chun Soo (between #2 and #3 i don't know which is less plausible) more to come 1. We needed something to get a sense of who Won Kyun was...though i think it would have been nice to see a clearly descent into the "historical" Won Kyun, so we can see how he jumped from "success" to "failure" 2. As i mentioned in another thread, i think Chun Su represents Chosun as a whole...after all, how does a country who has a winning track record with an Admiral, turn on him so quick & jail him, which leads the navy to ruin? Chun Su represents the moral decay of Chosun as a whole (the king & Minister Yoon from the top, Chun Su from the bottom). Though he does seem to jump from dufus to evil scheming genius kinda suddenly & miracoulsly 3. Mujik is a bit more realistic..his antics often came when he was drunk...and he was only robbing people of small stuff (if i remember)...he wasn't selling out a WHOLE COUNTRY , which Chun-Su & Hong were doing. Kinda like the Jerry Springer watcher syndrome -- my life may be bad, but at least i'm not as bad as these guests!

Very few people probably like the real Won Gyun and would've been in cheers when he finally dies after perversely competing with Yi Sun Shin, so I think they had to give a decent pure side in him so people don't just watch his death and shrug and say "finally~"

won kyun was never a good leader. in reading his diaries even YSS marvels at the fact that Won even rose to such a position and mused that perhaps it was his lying tongue that landed him the job (i mean his lies cost the admiral his job, can you imagine what kind of a liar could make someone believe his crap and not YSS? the whole chun soo thing, still not plausible in my mind. if he was a rather shifty character from the beginning, perhaps i could see him selling out, but when he grieved for his father and was willing to give up everything for the admiral, that was genuine. one can't change one's character from good hearted to evil from something so silly as what chun soo did it for. i mean, even jang pyung remember who he really was. and the wae noms did way worse to him and mujik did sell out his friends to break chun soo out of jail. some friend. and now all of a sudden he getts moral to make up for chun soo's ever increasing lack thereof? blegh another carppy moment: the fact that wakizaka is the killer of YSS youngest son as a plot device. das a BAD! das a BAD WRITERS!!

Chun-su's personality switch was jarring but what was worse was the sorry plotdevice that led to it. YSS shut him out for no good reason and didn't let him know what was going on with the army training. And YSS kept doing it throughout the show. Whenever he took over abase he would do strange without explaining himself. He was a bad commander who would alienate his subordinates immediately after he meets them all so the writers can put in a scene where he finally explains what he's doing and his men can nod and think maybe this guy is alright. Lazy writing.
