The King is a perfect example of the old saying" absolute power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely". The King's feelings are a witch's brew of contradictions--fear of YSS taking his throne (and of course, killing him), jealousy over the love YSS gets from the nation/people, positive memories of YSS when they were all a lot younger. Add his frustration with his ministers, the Chinese, etc. Not really knowing what is going on until it is over, etc. The guy is a mess. Kim Wan was SO great in his scene with Wakizaka. His laughing facade was really a gutsy thing. Wakizaka remembered the same man calling him names when captured and his saying that he would rather die than serve the Japanese. Kim Wan was really laughing at W. and I think that on some unconscious level, Wakizaka knew it too. But how did Kim Wan get back from Japan? Swim? He must have stopped off at the dry cleaners because he was dry! Did he steal a fishing vessel? How long did it take for him to get from captivity to the Admiral's camp? And how did he find YSS camp anyhow? Aaaah, the wonders of tv!!!! ;D What a smooth operator! When watching YSS grieving over his son's death it reminded me of King David of ancient Israel who also lost a beloved son and likewise wailed, "Absalom, my son. My son, Absalom! I would to God I died instead of you!" Great drama! How sad to see our dear Admiral in such grief. The scene where the injured soldiers, now out of uniform, took their leave of YSS was also a knock-out.

Eowyn, I'm sorry that I have to tell you a bad news. The late Magistrate Shin Ho died in the Battle of Namwon on the 16th August, one month earlier than the Battle of Myungryang (16th September 1597). So we will not and cannot see him again in the drama. I liked Magistrate Shin Ho a lot. He was so brave and good - using the grain due to the court to instead get much needed medicines during the plague outbreak. And then taking the fall for it. So brave and good was he.

I felt badly for Wakizaka when the tears formed in his eyes after the Taiko slapped and humiliated him. Kim Wan's re-entrance I thought would be made more of. All of a sudden he was right by YSS's side! I would have liked too see him come entering the camp, and everyone to stop and look at him, and then when realizing who it was, to cheer like crazy!
