I hear many different types of ranks in this show often, such as Admiral, or Magistrate, but I'm not sure I understand where all of them belong.
Could someone make a list of rankings present in this show?
Thanks

Er... Thanks, but I said "Navy", not "army."

Read the thread carefully. Navy ranks are not so different from the army ranks.

Choko is right. Military ranks in army and in navy are identical except two navy commader titles : susa aka sugun jeoldosa (3rd Senior Rank) and samdo sugun tongjesa (2nd Junior Rank). samdo sugun tongjesa is the post of the Supreme Navy Commander, created in August 1593 for Yi Soon-Shin. It continued until the end of the Chosun period. In the drama, we can see three Supreme Navy Commanders. - Yi Soon-Shin (1545-1598, 1st and 3rd tongjesa) - Won Kyun (1540-1597, 2nd tongjesa) - Yi Woon-Ryong (1562-1610, 7th tongjesa) - only showed up in Ep. 34-35, and then disappeared. Yi Woon-Ryong (1562-1610) About navy's ranks and its organization, Moreshige and I mentioned them a couple of times in History and Fiction and deiner.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=AdmiralYi&action=display&thread=1114907022&page=1]Chosun Navy Guys in history. It's about the Chosun Navy in 1592. So I add an infos about The Chosun Navy Rank in July 1597 (at the moment of the Battle of Chilchonryang) in Chosun Navy Guys in history thread. [/li][li]

P.-S. The thread Info Chosun army and militia leaders contains a posting about "Military ranks in Cholla province".
So I mentioned not only army commanders but also navy commanders in Cholla province.

I forgot another future Supreme Navy Commander. Wu Chi-Jeok became the 10th tongjesa in 1610. Wu Chi-Jeok (?-1628) He was a very brave warrior and, in real history, he was not a member of Won Kyun fan club. When YSS traveled to go to Kwon Yul's camp for serving him as a soldier after being released from prison, he wrote in his Diary that "... The Mayor [Wu Chi-Jeok, Constable of Sunchon] sent me some cash to cover my travel expenses ; I feel very grateful for his thoughtfulness." (13th May 1597)

That's good to know, florel, because until the last few episodes I really disliked Wu Chi-Jeok next to Won Kyun.
