We all know that the actor who plays YSS is going to be huge when this thing is over, but who else is doing a heck of a job on the show?
I pick the actor who plays Minister Yoon. So far, he's my favorite actor on the show because he's so human. One minute he's crying to save the country and the next he's trying to gain power from the war. He's emotional to YSS in the beginning and now he wants his downfall.
Second is the actor who plays Konishi Yukinaga. They really did a good job with this character besides the first 4 episode where he looked like a idiot. The real Konishi was a real negotiator and they illustrate that perfectly. He is always calm and collected when things are going wrong and is constanly thinking to outsmart is enemy.
Third is the actor who plays the King. The guy who played emperor Myong Jong on Ages of Warrior still holds the crown as the king you want to just smack right on the head, but this King is getting there with me. You felt sorry for him when the war broke out and when his sons got captured, but now he just fell way off and really becoming an dumba@#.

Park Cheol-Min as Kim Wan, aka "Monkey Man", Yi Tae Wung as Yi Young-Nam and Constable Kwan (don't know his name)

I agree with Skinz's assessment of Konishi, but I think Yoon is kind of an old-fashioned actor, he seems to play things rather melodramatically. However, when the sincerity is needed, it shines through.
My favorite is Chang-hyung (sp?), the courtesan. She possesses a great deal of subtlety. As does the Takei's wife (or whatever she is).

We like Kim Wan, Constable Kwon and Lt. Yi. Yes, Konishi is well-played too. He comes across as the most moderate of the Japanese. Is it because he is Christian?

Oh. I don't think it's because he was Christian. After all, even though a "moderate," he was still a very bloody character who abandoned his religious beliefs because it was the expeditious thing to do, no martyr there. None of the Chosunese are Christian and they come off rather well, don't you think?

Choi Chul Ho was not bad as the king. But I missed Cho Min-Ki who played king Sunjo in Episodes 1-4. Cho's king had more complexity and deapth of the character. And he was more elegant !

Is there a picture of Cho Min-Ki in the King Sunjo role that anyone can post?
