『Genghis Khan』was produced conjointly by Inner Mongolia TV station and Inner Mongolia Inc. etc. in 2002. It is the story about the success and failure of Genghis Khan who founded the far-flung Mongolian empire.

‘징기스칸’은 내몽고 TV방송국과 내몽고 징기스칸(주), 내몽고 기사 집단 등이 지난 2002년 공동 제작한 드라마로, 광대한 몽골제국을 세운 징기스칸의 성공과 실패를 그렸다.

This drama could not be aired in Mainland China because it seemed to arouse the independence of Mongolian people who are under the rule of Chinese communist party. So, it was aired first in Hong Kong and Taiwan in 2003 and ended up with explosive popularity. Last year, Mainland China finally permitted to air the drama on CCTV, the Chinese state-run channel, and it placed first among 3,000 programs.

[영문법] had been forbidden 은 과거 완료 시제로, “과거의 일정 기간 동안" 금지되어 있었다는 것을 의미합니다. 이 드라마는 과거에 일정 기간(2002~2003년) 중국 본토에서 방송이 금지되었다가 2004년에서야 비로소 CCTV 로 방송됩니다.

내몽고는 몽고가 아니라 중국이므로, 이것은 중국드라마라고 주장한다면... 그야말로, 칭기스칸은 중국인이라고 우겨대는 중국 사람들과 하나도 다를 것 없는 논리로군요.

I'm sorry tragic def, but I wasn't Chinese bashing, I was simply asking where the film was made. In case you don't know it, artistic expression isn't free in the PRC. Big diff!!!

tragic def, I, too, am a little puzzled as to this "chinese bashing" you are seeing here. I've seen a lot more negative comments elsewhere. Perhaps I'll run across your stringent rebuttals in those threads.

I hope we can see this drama somehow. I find it interesting that KBS is showing a non-Korean produced historical drama, about a non-Korean "hero"--not a category most Westerners would place Genghis Khan into, LOL. Hopefully, they will get on a better footing soon and give us some ripping Korean history again.

I am hooked on these Korean dramas. I enjoyed Age of Warriors immensly and now Yi Soon Shin. I do hope that we get something on our station from Los Angeles that will be just as enjoyable. The costumes are amazing and the history is exceptional. I would not mind seeing either series repeated again

Well I would really like KBC to air Emperor of the Sea next. But if they air a repeat Emperor Wang Guhn would be good (since I missed it) or Dawn of the Empire.
I wouldn't mind seeing this drama either but KBC seems to like repeats lately. At least with the modern dramas so far.
