Another thing about Kim Wan that is so engaging is his way of speaking. I don't know if this idea comes across in the English language, but when the actor delivers his lines he makes the Korean language "sing".
The richness of sound, the emotive expression in his words is really unique. I don't speak Korean nor have I ever studied it but I know what I am hearing. (I just don't know how to describe it! ;D
In the latest episode he is discussing the soldiers' and civilians' reactions to the overwork of building additional ships. It's a short scene but it demonstrates linguistically what I'm talking about. A symphony of sound and feeling. Outstanding actor. I could listen to him read the yellow pages!
