I love this drama so much. I love watching the way YSS would come up with strategies to defeat the enemy, even keeping his own men in the dark until the last moment. What I dont understand is why was Commander Won so upset that YSS didn't tell him anything until last minute? By now he should know that YSS doesnt' care about fame and only cares about defending his country. I don't see Commander Won trying to come up with new ways to defeat the enemy. YSS had to be so brilliant to come up with all those strategies and to even try to think like his enemy, that is awesome. I have to get his war diary. And poor Kohei, I felt so bad as they were whipping him. The poor man was covered in blood, that was just horrible. And did they have to kill the other potter? and right in front of him? Wakizaka seems to be ruthless and heartless. He has such a big ego thinking he can take down YSS. I cannot wait til next week's episode to see the look on his face when he starts realizing that he cannot defeat YSS. Oh and that scene where the soldiers are fighting the Japanese army was so heartbreaking. The Chosunese soldiers and citizens gave it their all to defend their country and their people, giving their lives for them. Such brave men

The visual summary of ep. 73. Kohei (=Jang Pyoung) was caught by Wakizaka when he was acting as YSS's spy. He was severely tortured in a cell. Wakizaka killed So Eun-woo, the Chosunese potter, in retaliation for Kohei's defection. In a make-up room before shooting that scene. Meanwhile, YSS was working out a new brilliant tactic to defeat Wakizaka. Chung-hyang got to remain in the Left Cholla Naval base. She volunteered to help Jin (the female physician) take care of patients. King Sun-jo heard from a Ming general that YSS is now very famous for his military achievements. Sun-jo becomes jealous of YSS. Toyotomi Hideyoshi ordered his subordinates to carry out amphibious operations to occupy Cholla province. There are two routes to go to Jeon-ju castle which is the capital city of Cholla province : Ung-chi slope and I-chi slope. Some Chosunese troops fighting in Ung-chi slope were annihilated after all. On July 8th, 1592, Kwon Yul, the future Army Chief of Staff, was facing Kobayakawa Takakage's troops at the head of I-chi slope. The battle of Ichi (land fighting) was just about to begin. At the same time, YSS went to the sea near Hansan island. Wakizaka encountered with the Chosun fleets led by Kim Wan and Uh Young-dam. The battle of Hansan was just about to begin. - End of ep. 73 -

ah, Choko.... you post the best stuff. Last nite was the usual cliffhanger.
Thanks so much for the great pictures... especially the make-up room. I know when I'm watching this stuff I get so lost in the reality of it and don't even think of things like make-up.
the MU artists do an outstanding job... so do you.

I like how Kim Wan said "I'm the best at hitting the enemy and running away". I can't wait for Monday to see ep. 74. Funny I never looked forward to a Monday before watching these dramas!

Doesn't really relate to the topic directly but while we're on the topic of Wakizaka (sort of)...
I must say that I was sort of shocked by W's (that's short for Wakizaka) behavior in this episode. I put him higher than all the other Japanese generals because
a) He's determined and very calm (rather like YSS and Constable Kwon) b) He actually thinks of his soldiers as people and not worthless animals c) he said himself that he refuses to force women into his bed d) he takes the "samurai honor" thing very seriously e) he even prays for his dead soldiers f) he's willing to pay for his own mistakes instead of dumping them on his underlings
Although I'm Korean, I actually respect W somewhat. His character is very interesting. I didn't see the earlier episodes so I didn't see the ones when he first came to Korea and got the scar from YSS, but I hear that he had a crush on Mijin and maybe had even deeper feelings for her. It says in his profile (on the KBS site) that he was hurt because Mijin didn't return his feelings for her. Can anyone fill me in on this?

Mijin loved YSS but was taken captive by the Japanese and was raped. She escaped later to return to Chosun but pregnant with an unwanted child. Mijin is a fictional character, BTW.

It was the best episode that I ever seen... I feel sorry about So Eun-woo for the way he give up his life to save Yi Jang Pyoung.

MAN! I can't believe I missed 72 & 73. I was sick and couldn't get to the office to load fresh tape into the VCR. Actually, I didn't care at the time (that's how sick I was), but now I'm sooooooo unhappy. Well, if some things don't make sense to me after watching episode 74, I'll ask you guys to 'splain some. Although, now I have this WONDERFUL VISUAL SUMMARY! Yaaayy! Thanks, Choko! Bo

The Japanese army's routes to attack Cholla Province. Jeonju, the capital city of Cholla province, is their destination. They had to pass through two slopes to go there. One is Unchi slope located between Geumsan and Jeonju, and the other is Ichi slope located between Jinan and Jeonju. While the Kobayakawa's troops were attacking the Chosun army on the two slopes, some Japanese navy led by Wakizaka Yasuharu started to attack YSS's fleets on the sea near Hansan isalnd to invade the southern coast of Cholla Province.
