Korean newspapers reported today that The Immortal Yi Sun-shin (2004~2005) will have total 104 episodes. That is, KBS extended the show for 4 more episodes. Ep. 89~90 was aired in South Korea this weekend, and the last episode will be aired on August 28th, 2005. KBS is expected to have over 80 million dollar deficit this year, so they are considering rebroadcasting Empress Myoung-seong (2001) instead of making a new historical drama.

Thanks for the news!!! i've never heard of the show you've mentioned, and it's not listed at www.koreanwiz.org/dramas.htmlIt would be nice if they re-showed "West Palace", as those events are a "sequel" to "Yi Soon shin" (and it would be interesting to see Chun-su as Kwanghae again, and compare the difference...in acting & character and writing)

Oops, the date when the last episode will be aired is not October 28th but August 28th. I'm sorry. I corrected it. Empress Myoung-seong (aka. Myung-sung Hwang-hu, The Last Empress, 1851~1895)[/i] is a story of Chosun's last queen. She was quite a diplomatist and stood against the Japanese imperialists. So, she got assassinated in the palace by the Japanese government in 1895. I think I already wrote about her on one of The Great Jang-geum threads. Here is the official homepage of the drama. www.kbs.co.kr/drama/myungsung/Photo gallery www.kbs.co.kr/drama/myungsung/special/photo.htmlThree actresses played the role of the empress. (young, adult, middle-aged)

I am glad to see they have made a series about her.
Was it ever proven that it was the Japanese government who ordered her assassination?
and what was the Emperor doing in this time?

. . . they are considering rebroadcasting Empress Myoung-seong (2001) instead of making a new historical drama. Wow, I think I watched most of that drama in Los Angeles a few years ago (though, it was broadcast without English subtitles – so I can’t be sure of the title). That scene, near the end, where the courageous empress was murdered by what appeared to be a borderline-insane Japanese officer (in her own palace) was really horrifying. But, the fact that I got “hooked” on this drama, even without subtitles, may be an indication of how good it is. I’d sure like to see it again with English subtitles.
