Yesterday's episode was so heartbreaking. The way Magistrate Yi went to YSS to warn him about his arrest, the way they were all willing to fight if necessary to protect YSS, the way YSS walked down the stairs ready to be escorted out. It was so sad, the great man, the great warrior willing to do anything to protect his country and his people being charged with treason I was so touched when he gave Magistrate Yi his sword and on the sword were the words "The purpose of the sword is to stop the violence." And then to see him writing letters to his commanders telling them not to draw the sword against their own people, what a great man. I dont think I can bear to see him get tortured (if he does) in today's episode.

Visual summary of Ep. 88 King Sun-jo orders to arrest YSS. Crown Prince Gwang-hae does not have enough power to stop his father. YSS hands over his sword to Yi Young-nam. "This sword was designed to stop all violence. From now on, it is for you" It is the sword that YSS's master, Namgung Du, gave young YSS about 30 years ago. "Don't draw your swords against your own people" YSS's men conform to YSS's command, and put up their sword. YSS hands over his supreme commander seal to Won Kyun. Won Kyun : "It would be a long journey for you" Yi Sun-shin : "Pray for your good fortune in the battle" YSS was arrested and sent to Seoul. Common people around his oxcart are screaming, pleading his innocence. but he said "Let me go. These guards are also tired like all of you." In Seoul, Yun Du-su is waiting for him with various tools for torture. - to be continued - Although the next episode (ep. 89) has some cruel scenes (Even some Korean newspapars called the episode "The Passion of the Admiral"), it contains the main theme of the entire series. Don't miss it.

I'm going to cry when i see the Chosun navy get destroyed because of that fool Won Gyun. I can't imagine how much anguish and sorrow Admiral Yi must have felt--he was demoted and brutally tortured when he was guilty of nothing but loyalty, his mother died while he was a common soldier, before he would become an Admiral again and win an amazing unbelievably lopsided battle with 12 damaged ships. it just makes me sad

correction should be made about the swords written dedication. It was a sword to stop spears and arrows, not violence directly.

"Don't draw the sword against your own people."
It's certainly a main theme of this drama.
When I heard this word from YSS's mouth in the drama, I cannot help thinking of General Chun's Coup and of the massacre in Gwangju in 1980.
YSS is the hero exactly on the opposite side of the military regime.
IMO, the writers criticize not only Gen. Pak Jung-Hee but also Gen. Chun Du-Hwan and their military dictatorship.
