The series is suppose to be 100 episode right? I know its gonna pass that mark, but for how long is it going to last? In Korea, there up to episode 72 and they're still not close, probably not even half, to the ending of the 1st invasion. There still more thing to cover like:
-The negotiating of Toyotomi and Ming - more of YSS battles - YSS trial - YSS sentence - The second invasion - Getting to know new Japanese soldiers - Won Kyun downfall - Getting to know Ming soldiers and more
So when will this series end? 130,135,140ish.
I don't think I have enough tapes or free weekends to catch all that.

I have to say, skinz, some of your list seems extraneous. On the following list, I wonder why you think we need to know new Japanese and Ming soldiers? The story has been pretty flat on that score, we don't even know much about the Japanese who have appeared in the story so far. What woman who threw herself? (Is this a spoiler?)
I'm sure we'll have time to see Won's downfall, it's being hinted already. As for the Ming/Toyotomi negotiations, didn't those take place after the death of YSS? If so, I don't think they'll be included because it looks to me as though the end of YSS's life, once we get back to it, will be the end of the series.

The story has been pretty flat on that score, we don't even know much about the Japanese who have appeared in the story so far. I'm not talking about a full episode soley on a new soldier appearing for the first time, I'm talking about new characters that are going to interact with YSS or his allies. For example, Konishi character was horrible when we had no idea why he was screaming and yelling "YI SOON SHIN!" in the first 4 episodes. But as the story went back, we now see a calm and complex character that have some backbone. Its gonna take a couple of episodes for the development of Shimazu because he's important to a certain main character (You'll have to guess ). They can't just simply introduce Shimazu without some insight on who the person was before joining the war. And that kind of development have to take at least 2 or 3 episodes with the narrator explaining some more. Shimazu And as for the woman throwing herself at a japanese warrior forget I mentioned that. (I really need to stop spoiling everything )

Has shooting of IYSS wrapped or is it still in production?
I'd imagine they had to crank out 100 episodes without spending too much money on stunt men, CGI effects and goofy hats ... therefore all the time spent on political intrigue and "character development." After all KBS has probably been using the same Chosun Dynasty sets and costumes since the Park Chung-hee era. But I'd be annoyed if they end up rushing through the war years, especially after the glacial pace of the first few dozen episodes.

It sounds like you didn't see the first four episodes as far as pure war action is concerned. Episodes 60 or 61 and 68 I believe will will begin with YSS's sea battles.

The show has just four more major battles to cover.
Hansan-showdown(Yi Soon Shin destroys Wakizaka and Guki's fleet)
Pusan-Showdown(Yi Soon Shin does a hit-and-run on Japanese fleet at Pusan, sinking about 100 ships)
Chilchunryang(Won Gyun takes 138 of Yi Soon Shin's 150 fleet to hell with him)
Myungrlang-showdown(Yi Soon Shin's most infamous 133 vs 13 battle)
The last battle was already covered and the producers will probably condense it in one episode.
So you have three more major battles to cover over 24 episodes, so I don't think that's too pushing. Shorter the battles, cheaper it is for the producers.

Well....
It might just be pushed out there to more then 100 episodes. I think Wang Guhn was slated for less then 200 episodes (150 or so I think?), but being that ratings were so good, they made it into 200. If ratings continue to be good, then I don't see why this could be 150 episode series. Some of the characters I'd like them to get into also is Kwak Chae U, a guerilla leader who is almost as legendary and brilliant as Yi Soon Shin himself. Another I'd like them to get more into is Kwon Yu. I'd also like to see some land battles that directly relate to Admiral Yi such as the 1st and second seige of Chinju. The ability to hold Chinju protected the Cholla Province and allowed Yi to have a base of operations.
