Constable Kwon Jun is a commissioned military officer not a civilian minister as are all YSS’s officer staff wearing blue and purple uniforms. What's the difference?

Constable Kwon is a Naval officer, he can take command of sailors/Marines and a naval vessel. Admiral YSS’s staff is wearing military uniforms. Those Easterner and Westerner ministers at the Chosun King’s court can’t take command. They’re civilians and probably have no military experience otherwise they take heed to what their emissaries said about Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s intentions. If you’re refering to uniforms, I believe their rank indications like red and blue uniform is for field grade officers like Admirals, Naval Captains, and Commanders. Purple uniform is probably for junior officers like Ensigns or Lieutenants like Lt. Na Dae Yong. Florel or Choko might know more about this uniforms than me. I only know about the Japanese Samurais.

Purple uniform is probably for junior officers like Ensigns or Lieutenants like Lt. Na Dae Yong. I thought Lt. Na wore a dark green uniform? Or maybe I'm mistaken.

I must be the only one who thinks Minister Yu is hot? *shrug* ;D He's so thoughtful and diplomatic and has an adorable smile. I practice kendo so I told my friend that I want to be Minister Yu's personal bodyguard (he doesn't appear to be adept with weapons) and follow him around like Nalbal does with YSS. My friend said "In that case, you'd be doing a lot of sitting." Hehe. I saw a ginseng commercial with Lee Jae-Ryong in it (comes on sometimes in the afternoons on channel 28) and was like "Wow, he's pretty cute even without the beard and the Mickey Mouse ears hat." The real minister Yu wore armor when he went to Ming China to ask for help. We discussed it here: deiner.proboards18.com/index.cgi?board=AdmiralYi&thread=1111643876&action=display&start=15It kinda of surprised me because I thought of him as a strictly scholarly type.

I guess more explanations are needed about Yu Sung-Ryong's military role. When he accompanied the Ming's army to recover Pyongyang and Seoul, Yu Sung-Ryong took charge of supplying provisions for the Chinese. But he didn't visit China in person. It was Yi Duk-Hyung who went to the Ming's court to ask for a relieving force. (I recently made a brief biographical note about Yi Duk-Hyung.) deiner.proboards18.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=AdmiralYi&thread=1110144144&start=30During war times, Yu Sung-Ryong was appointed Chechalsa (Supreme Commander) of several provinces. Chechalsa supervised all of the military operations and commanded regional military leaders. High rank ministers were appointed to this post. In Chosun dynasty, professional military officers were under the command of literati officials, even in times of war. Kwon Yul could became Marshal because he passed the examination for literati bureaucrats.
