I'm confused, but is this board not being flooded with useless one-question posts? Perhaps that video-game character avatar gave people the wrong impression?
Bo? JP? Were are you?

I was a little annoyed too because it sounds like the poster didn't watch the series at all and wanted everyone to conviently answer all his questions. It's like listening to , "why is the sky blue?" or "why do monkeys eat bananas?" Aiiiguu.... But I forget to remind myself the poster might be some young kid who actually appreciates a good historical drama.....which is fine by me. I won't answer him though....but you can go right ahead. ;D

I thought TheBo handeled it before. Guess he/she returned with a new name. I can understand if the person is trying to create topics to energize this board, but at least put more than one question in one thread.

I don't mind it. Not everyone is good at expressing themselves. I read this board for a while before I got the nerve to relax, with all you folks being so good at clear and diverse expression.

Were are you? i've been shuttling between 2 hospitals among other places, and updating many people on my situation. For details, see this thread on the general board => deiner.proboards18.com/index.cgi?board=generalmsgs&action=display&thread=1111932677PLEASE Private Message Me, Bo or Chigirl if you see anything like this...i've especially been overwhelmed. It's an option you can do when you're logged in...if you're having problems with that, let us know in a separate thread, and we can sticky some detailed instructions Sorry for not being on it

As I've stated before, if there's a problem on the board you guys should PM one of the mods. That works a lot better and faster. I'm not sure what you guys are asking of the mods in this situation though. You guys want us to tell him to stop asking questions about the show? MasterCrabby brings up a good point. Not everyone knows how to express themselves and not everyone is all that internet savvy. You guys should play nice and not be so harsh on the guy. Instead of letting him (or other little things such as this) get to you, you guys could be discussing the show. If it continues to be a problem though, we'll take care of it.

Sorry for not being in here this weekend. I didn't see anything wrong with his questions. They ARE about the show.

Its not that serious that we have to PM administrators. A person just stated his displeasure. Some agreed or disagreed but its by no means a serious threat to the board.
I'm sure ID was probably half joking with his call for the Administators help.

Hey, I never called for a mod to do anything .esp for something as trivial as this. Nor did I say I wanted him to stop asking questions. He could ask a million questions as far as I'm concerned. I thought I expressed it with a little humor but I guess it backfired and got lost in the translation. And if it did, then I apologize. But please, don't lump us together and say "you guys" like "we're" ready to raise arms and call 911.

The point of this thread was to give the guy a heads up, to stop what he was doing. There is nothinjg wrong with questions. But flooding with dozens of one question posts, is somewhat annoying. Like the other guy before who made a topic, and gfilled it in with "....................................."

Hi.... As a newbie here I just wanted to say it might not be easy for some people to try joining an already established community where everyone seems to know each other so well. Maybe asking questions, no matter how tactlessly done, is his/her way of trying to join in? paduk.scholar

Just read his posts. I see nothing wrong or useless with his posts so long as he doesn’t become a troll/spammer or gives away spoilers frequently without regard to others. He’s just asking legitimate questions. If you don’t like his posts then just ignore. That’s what I do in other boards when I see spam or flamewars on other boards. I just ignore it. I don’t start it and I will not participate in it because I don’t have time for that trash. If you want to see real trolling go visit www.britishempire.co.uk or http://bbs.f###edcompany.com/ Just replace # with you know what letters on the URL bar.

I'm sure ID was probably half joking with his call for the Administators help. PM'ing the moderators, even if it seems trivial, is generally a good idea. Picture this as, say, a Board of Education, or a Church Business Meeting. Someone's at the podium, and their just yakking away, talking in circles. One way to handle it is someone from the crowd saying either directly or indirectly, standing up and saying "we (or the specific name) needs to stop talking for more than 5 minutes)." That could end the yakking member, but also unnecessarily hurt their feelings, and shut up other people who have legitimate opinions. or, one could slip a note to the chairman of the meeting, who has the authority (and experience) to re-direct conversation, informing them of the problem. (The chairman might have been distracted by something, so they missed the problem). So that's how i think of it...now, if you do 5 PM's in a day to me, THEN i might have some issue...but an occasional question or concern --- sounds great to me. It took me some weeks at least to understand the usefulness of PM's (isn't that right, Bo ), but they're a good tool to discreetly address issues before they get too big.

I hope this doesn't sound like scolding, just because it is. I'm not going to go through all of your posts and single out what you said, I just have a general observation because of what I read.
We do tend to be rather clubby here. People have different styles of conversing. Some people (most of you) like more complicated questions that can flower into immense political discourse or, just as easily, dissolve into catcalls and good-natured ribbing. Some people prefer a clear answer to a clear question. If the new member wants to put his questions into single posts, that's perfectly fine, and I don't think it's very nice to "shun" people just because you don't like their conversational style. If you have the answer to a question, it's common courtesy to give it, don't you think? You don't have to post a treatise, for pity's sake. If you feel the person is not reading the board but trying to get you to do his legwork, a gentle shove in the direction of a previous post might be in order, but maybe if you engage this person, he might feel more comfortable talking with you and seem more familiar to you.
And, after going out the rest of the board and reading what you did with his questions, I see you are engaging his questions. Good. I'm glad you took my advice before I had a chance to give it to you--you'all so perspicacious.
Bo
