Na Dae-yong goes down in history as a military officer who designed and built Turtle ships in 1592. Jo Su-chang is a fictional charactere. He makes Panok-seon(=Chosun's warship) better in the drama.

I love Na Dae-yong. Who's with me? He has such childlike wonder in his face when he stares and smiles. His persistence is hilarious!

I love Na Dae-yong. Who's with me? ... If he's the perfect riceball guy, then yeah, I'm with you. He's a charming character. (I think I'm behind on the drama again, but right now, the only ship builder for me is Su-chang.) Oh, that sounded so romantic!!! Bo

Oh, that sounded so romantic!!! Bo I don't think they are the same person. The perfect rice ball guy is in the blue and white soldier uniform. Na Dae-yong is a Leiutenant and wears a green uniform. I thought is was funny in last night's episode (46) when he was sitting in his sell talking about how he so wanted to be born a shipwright's son. All while Soon-shin was behind him listening with his nod of approval.

Anyone know the name of the actor who plays Lt. Na? On another thread (Now in Buan), someone said how he's not really an actor but a martial artist, and we see him on the video showing off with the spear. Ah, the riceball guy Didn't you love it when the lady kept hitting him on the behind when they were in the kitchen?

I wondered at that time--is Yi Soon-shin going to come into the kitchen and make that guy the head cook, with equal rank to the commanders? (LOL) It seems to be his reward for anyone who does some thing he likes. Bo

I love Na Dae-yong. Who's with me? He is hilarious. He always seems to be in a good mood and nothing can get him down. Even when he was yelled at he never got angry. I'm glad he found his true calling, building ships. In the beginning I thought he was losing it cause he never really paid attention to anything, he always seem to be in his own little world. And he would forget things alot. I guess he was thinking about ships all the time ;D

And i wonder, too, if it's a metaphor for modern Korean society....i understand that everyone has to undergo military service for a time, but not everyone is meant to be a basic solider (yet they still have soemthing to contribute).
