and the captain of the sado garrison....he must be a descendant of monkey man...he just has to be. Yes, the new "Minister Yi"! And I can't believe the tea master was let to kill himself right there in the room. Who is gonna clean up all that spattered blood on the walls? double

What an episode. It was great. The Japanese army was very Darth Vader-like. The signing in blood--creeeeeeepy! A new monkey man? I can only hope! All that suicide blood (I thought the guard was going to balk at the request--but no), nasty. We can expect action soon, I think. It's hard to tell, sometimes-- pick your nose, 30 seconds; pass a year, 5 seconds.

I guess you viewed the scene of Chusu confining Hong in a rice depository. He tortures her with water and beats her. He forces Hong confession about J-spies' meeting places, but she doesn't yield. (And... to be continued in Ep. 45 about Hong's fate.) yes, florel, we saw the capture and the beatings and water torture scenes already. glad i didn't miss the part regarding her fate. ************** AW, i can't remember which episode this was in, maybe 43, and i am sorry i forgot to include what chun su did in regards to hong in the comments i posted. i think i have a mental block when it comes to that man. my brain just doesn't want to recognize his existence in any way. as for the connection between hong, mijik and chun su....didn't they get together when chun su and mijik were first getting involved with the jurchens? i am a bit fuzzy on the details but i think she was with a band of barbarians, and somehow ended up with the two greedy traitors. **************** the teamaster's suicide was indeed a bloody mess. love the comment AW made about it being an 'outdoor activity'. ;D and eowyn, you are wondering who will clean up the mess. for some reason, when i read that comment, all i could think of was 'out, out d**n spot'.

luvwarrior (not luvmerchant ;D ) : it's good that you didn't miss Chun-Su's brutality. I found it's funny to see the different reactions of Chun-Su and Mujik. They saw the same scene : Hong & Kimura's nocturnal spy meeting. But they arrived at different conclusions. Chun-Su became aware of Hong's real identity and planned to get money from spy capture while Mujik considered the same meeting scene as a secret love affair. LOL Aging Warrior : So those men are working for Chun-su. Yes, they are. The torture scene is in episode 44. In Episode 43, Chun-Su unmasked Hong and his men (not himself ) captured her. With a malicious smile on his face, he said, "I'm Im Chun-Su ! I'm not an ass that would let myself slashed by a girl's dagger." Bravo, Chun-Su ! I was never sure how Hong fit in with Chun-su and Mujik. My first impression was that she and Mujik were an item. But it was never really clear. I suppose she would have picked him because he is easier to manipulate than Chun-su. A pair of travelling merchants would make good companions for a spy. I agree with you on Hong's initial intention to approach them.

LOL i thought this was pretty darned interesting as well florel. it just says so much about us as human beings....we can see the same thing, can have very similar experiences, and view things so entirely differently from someone else. hmm, so it isn't our eyes that deceive us, but our hearts? our brains? luvswarriors (not merchants) ;D

Both of them, perhaps. true. it is much the same with the royal court. some look at the events and see that war is imminent. others think there is nothing to worry about. these differences in perception of what is going on around us is truly amazing. I must apologize to you for having attached the word "merchant" to the prefix "luv". It was a sacrilege. ;D excellent recognition there florel. i will get you people properly trained eventually. ;D and nice avatar by the way.

I watched this episode last night and I was wondering, why are the ministers more worried about the heir to the throne then about the fact that war is on their doorstep? One of the ministers (don't know his name but he seems to be the only decent one there) said that it's not about the Easterners or the Westerners, but about uniting together against the Japanese and they looked at him like he was crazy. Those ministers are so greedy and selfish, and only care about themselves. Don't they realize that if war does break out, they are in danger as well? Oh and I felt so bad for that Japanese tea master. He seemed like such a good man, speaking about peace and the heart of Chosun. The desire for power will drive people to take extreme measures, even if it means risking the lives of their own people. (so sad )

You'll see how the common people will react to the court much later on, btw.

I can't remember if the Queen was in that episode. Every time I see her wig, all I think of is the ornaments. Anyway, the rationale seems to be a history of naming a successor in times of national peril, in order to ensure smooth transfer of power should the Emperor die.
