... at least I think I'm talking about Episode 61 ... I always seem to be getting a cold drink out of my fancy Samsung naengjanggo when they show the episode numbers ...
At long last, almost 2/3 of the way through the series, the Left Cholla Navy finally goes to war at Okpo. Those of you who complain about the fictional portrayal of Won Kyun will HATE this episode. He makes a rash, impulsive decision that places the rest of the fleet in danger, yet somehow works out in his favor.
The two commanders' decisions and actions seem to be creating discontent among their subordinates, setting the stage for future events. Perhaps here we see the reason for the scriptwriters' vision of Won Kyun. No one will follow a complete asshat into battle, so they needed to create a flawed warrior who falls victim to his weaknesses, yet still inspires some degree of loyalty.
But great performances all around, with great CG effects to boot.

I don't hate this episode. On the contrary, I like it.
What annoys me is the fact that Won Kyun (in the drama) is TOOooo handsome ! ;D

Another naval commander (Yi Ok-ki who will show up later) looks better and more handsome when he wears that helmet. Perhaps... a magic helmet ? Won Kyun looks good when he has a smile on his face. But he rarely laughs in recent days. - florel unlogged

I think chae jae-sung is a handsome guy. He was major heart-throb when he was young. If you are interested in korean history based drama, MBC's "Eye of Dawn" is a must-see. Young Chea jae-sung stole many ladies heart with that drama.

As Meowmeow said, Choe Jae-Sung was a "idol star" when he was young. I haven't seen Koreans dramas during ten years since I left my motherland. Then, suddenly and recently, I started watching them again with IYSS and AOW. I was shocked when I viewed IYSS first time. Choe Jae-Sung plays Won Kyun ! I was also shocked at the fact that the young slender boy becomes a fat aged man. lol I've complained in another thread that Choe Jae-Sung is too handsome and too charismatic to be Won Kyun. ;D But I'm happy to find him again now as a good veteran actor. Choe Jae-Sung and Chae Shi-Ra in "Eye of Dawn (or Pupil of Dawn, MBC, 1991)". Of course, Won Kyun is never my favorite character. I like YSS, Nalbal, Kwon Jun and Young-Nam like as many other ladies. ;D

Yes, I remember Choe Jae-Sung, playing the hero opposite Chae shi-Ra. I think I had a crush on her. haha Now, like Choe Jae-Sung, she plays a major villianess in "Emperor of the Sea". Go figure.

Oh, Florel, hah! As I went down your list of pictures, it was, "AAAAAAHH! He's GORGEOUS!" winding down to "Okay, still pretty cute" and finally, "Ah. There's our Won Kyun." LOL.
