I really enjoy the way the little vignettes that show us a character's intelligence/cleverness are done. The first one I really remember was back in Ep 5 or 6? when the "bookworm" Yu Song Rong bails out Kyun and YSS when they were caught by the military academy folks--it certainly set the stage for him as a thinker. Then there's how YSS responds to the hostage crisis with his wife to be. The last ones I've seen that stand out (we're on 21 in SF) were the ones involving Yu and/or the future emperor. The writers quickly back up the buildup about why folks are talking about the "imperial aura...". The scene where the sitting emperor tests the young prince was perhaps my favorite all of these types of scenes so far in the show. AOW was the first Korean drama I'd seen, and I thought it was the best done dramatic television I'd ever seen. YSS had a pretty high standard to live up to after that, and for me it's certainly delivered. Again, many thanks to the writers and actors of this splendid show!
