first off,
too many of my favorite characters bought it in this one (VIB honks into her 50th tissue)
second...a scene was left out right before woo sung died, he was taken back to memories of his wife and child during happier times. the last thought he has is of his baby's smiling face
then the chosun navy horns sound

i don't think i have enough adjectives in my vocabulary to describe how i feel about this episode.
i cried so hard when young nam died. it was too awful.
when the admiral was on the bridge as the battle was about to start, that look of peace in his eyes spoke volumes. that made me cry too.
when woo sung died, and VIB, those of us who watch on wmbc got those scenes....when he was remembering his family, it was just too sad.
the battle itself i found thrilling.
i despise the king....how can you put protecting the throne before protecting your country and the people who are sacrificing everything to save it? beyond my grasp to understand.
watching this episode was difficult the first time, but watching it again tonight was much worse. but i wouldn't have missed it for anything.

one of the parts that moved me the most was after young nam had died, Yi threw his chain mail armor over his dead body. and then when his face changed from being very sad to enraged, i thought the actor did a really good job of showing the transition of emotion
i also liked the fact that Young Nam's death was the one that Yi finally lost his composure with. if only Young Nam knew...

Episode 4 is the first classic episode so far. There was everything for everyone. But one thing I saw that didn't make sense at all. One of the cannons flew directly to one of the japanese flags, but the whole ship blew up. I'm not gonna fault them since this is a T.V. drama. But if this was a movie, I would've been all over it.

oh yeah and skinz
the cannon ball hit the mast of the japanese ship. the reason that it blew up was because the chosun navy fired missiles into the sides of the ships

This was an amazing episode. I will cherish it forever. I felt horrible when Gen. Yi died, but I was happy that he took that Samurai with him.

maybe it's just me
but i think the chosun navy did a dam fine job of defending their country in this last battle
my personal favorites were the delay-fuse bombs on the rafts (Yi actually had these during the battles) the missiles (of course)
if anyone gets a copy of nanjung ilgi (the war diaries) in the back they have some really nice color photos of actual instruments of war used at the time with explanations

inDEED
i loved the pyrotechnix
i think this is the first time i've seen korean stunt men lit on fire.
and some of the shots were just beautiful
the scene where Yi is standing next to Kwon Jun on the boat and you see their backs and in front of them is the chosun turtle boat fleet against a sunset backdrop
just beautiful

So far, this is my favorite episode of the series. The battle scenes were very well-done even with the CGI. The fact that it took place at night was even more spectacular. Amazingly, I did not notice any glaring inaccuracies as in the previous episodes. A truly great scene for a TV series. It is less like a B-movie now and more like a serious war drama.
When Admiral Yi decided to raise the vanguard flag and beat the drums, chills went up my spine. Young Nam fought bravely to the end (a little over the top but believable)....his death scene with Admiral Yi reminded me of the scene in the first lord of the rings, when Aragorn held the dying Boromir in his hands. Very emotional and well-acted. I liked the way Yi's eyes reacted to Nam's words as he lay dying.

The CGI wasn't overdone, however. The only time it is painfully noticable is when they show that all those ships, using a bird's eye view. It's not like the Matrix, where most of it was shot in a blue room, and the environment was filled in using a computer.
And as a major AOW fan, I have ot point out that "Age Of Warriors" never used any CGI ;D

To me, Episode 4 was brutal, very brutal. I liked it! I thought that was the last episode of the series, but thank god I was wrong.
