Just making sure everyone knows: Damo is available on DVD with English subtitles from YesAsia.com. I bought mine last year. It comes with a great reference guide detailing culture notes, characters, etc. I LOVE the DVD set. us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/pid-1003676910

Damo will be release in my country.... it's a surprise... but i don't know if it's a good show... Hi, sushimi...sorry to butt in but I thought I let you know that Damo is an excellent drama. I watched it last summer and I do have the YesAsia version and the English subtitles are excellent. I think you only have to google on "Damo Reviews" and you will be pleasantly surprised, how well it was received by majority of the viewers. Hope that helps ukfan

Hi sushimi
My version is definitely from Yesasia and I think if you look up Yesasia's website, they only sell one version, although there is no guarantee that it came from only one production company.
Anyway, my version is excellent as far as subtitles go..
ukfan
BTW, is there a large Korean population in France?

Hi sushimi Yes, I gathered that, different versions of the same drama are available from resellers...emm! how confusing. I have bought 3 k-dramas so far and because I only like period k-dramas I am now waiting for YSS to be released on DVD. - I bought DJG on eBay (it is the PMP version - Malaysian and the English subtitles isn't brilliant at all but ok) - Damo , a YesAsia version which was bought by a friend in Malaysia and the English subtitles are excellent. - Emperor of the Sea on eBay from a reseller in the States - it is an originaly MBC production and the English subtitles are very good. Also, there is another k-drama Hur Joon (about the best known Korean doctor) and although it is available on YesAsia, they do not supply a version with English subtitles. Phew...I think that is my list ;D ukfan PS. I like to meet some Koreans too and I guess that can only be done online..like on this board?

Hi sushimi I have been lucky in that a korean visitor to this board did some translation for me at the beginning of the year. I guess it is who is around when you ask for help really. Are you interested in modern k-dramas only or do you like period k-dramas as well. DaeJangGeum (Jewel of the Palace) was my first k-drama and is my favourite, hence I post mainly on that board. Occasionally, like now, I post on other boards. Are you a Dae Jang Geum fan? I am ;D --I'm sure if you go to the DJG board that it would be self evident Anyway, to answer your questions: 1. Yes, my Emperor of Sea DVD set is execellent, if you are interested visit this site: stores.channeladvisor.com/animetoys/store/search.aspx It is the cheapest compare to other sellers...the complete DVD set of 19 dvd is only $49 + shipping and insurance! 2. My Damo DVD set from YesAsia seems to be the real thing, I didn't get the packaging and it consists of 7 DVD, I also get the OST It has the both English and Mandarin Chinese subtitles to choose from. Anyway, I hope you get your DVD sets soon and start enjoying them...yes, I did notice you have been very active on this forum as well All the best ukfan

Hi Ukfan, I'm interested by modern and period k-drama, i just want to watch beautiful stories... I don't know Dae Jang Geum at all... i don't even know Jewel Palace... my first drama was "Hello, God!" this year, that i discovered in kbs world in february, and my favourite until now! i'm a U Gun and Lee Jonghyeuk fan, even if i know them with an only k-drama... i want to buy "Green Rose" with Lee now.... or "Dr Khaeng", his brand new drama.... I went on "Damo" reviews and i found many good comments... but i'm waiting because maybe it will be possible to rent it... it's hard to do a choice to buy a drama without see nothing about it! Thanks for the link, i'm gonna to see it... Sushimi PS : are you interested only by k-drama? i'm myself a fan of asian movies, and i made a thread in "general - anothers asian movies to recommend"....

... i want to buy "Green Rose" with Lee now.... or "Dr Khaeng", his brand new drama.... sushimi, if you liked Lee Jonghyeuk in “Hello, God!” I bet you’ll also like him in “Dr. Gang” (that’s the spelling they’re using on “The Asia Network”). I’m up to Episode #6 so far, and after a slow start, I’m really starting to enjoy it. Lee plays a city attorney who is tough on gangsters, but a little uncertain of himself around women - almost the same kind of character he was towards the end of “Hello, God!” Here, though, he’s finding himself in a love triangle (with young, reformed gangster) over a very smart and pretty (but also slightly ditzy) young doctor. Haein’s mom from “The Bizarre Bunch” also appears as the young gangster’s well-meaning mother. It’s a serious drama, but since all of the characters are a little goofy, it’s also a fun drama to watch. When “Dr. Gang” becomes available in your area, be sure to check it out. I think you’ll like it.

Sushimi PS : are you interested only by k-drama? i'm myself a fan of asian movies, and i made a thread in "general - anothers asian movies to recommend".... Hi sushimi.....ahhh! you don't know Dae Jang Geum? It has been the biggest k-drama success in the world! It was first shown in South Korean over two years ago and now around the world except europe. It has enjoyed the higest TV ratings in almost all the countries it was aired in especially Asia. YunYun on the DJG board is now campaigning for the BBC to show it in UK, click this link to visit her blog site: showdjgonbbc.blogspot.com/ You will get a very very good overview of this marvellous drama. It actual fact it is because of this drama that I am hooked on K-dramas ;D Also, visit www.youtube.com and type in either "Jewel in the Palace" or " Daejanggeum" or Dae Jang Geum" and you will see a lot of VODs and NGs as well. BUT, if you rather watch the drama first then avoid these VODs as they might spoilt your enjoyment....also simply google and they are lot of reviews. To end, I be will very very surprised if you do not like this drama as this drama has everything you ever want for a drama of this genre. Enjoy and let us know what you think. ukfan PS. Yes, I like asian movies as well primarily Chinese and Korean. I will be ordering some DVDs shortly so if there are any movies that you could recommend, I would appreciate it very much, thanks

Hi sushimi Yes, Dae Jang Geum has been a surprised hit! Do a google search and you will find out + YunYun's blog site does provide lot s of links as well. There are lots of links on the Dae Jang Geum board and you would not be disappointed. Yes, I did go your thread about the various asian movies etc, thanks. I have a few of those films and I will buy some of the latest Korean and Chinese DVD very very soon....probably from the US reseller I told you about earlier. What I have found is that it is still cheaper to buy from the States and shipped over to UK that buy them in UK...strange huh? Anyway, I hope you get a super fast PC and Internet connection very soon! All the best ukfan
