I hated Yoon because he would act like Mr. Hot-and-Cold with Chae-ok - basically because he wouldn't tell her that he loved her unless she was about to leave him, and he never actually took the step of running away with her - until the end when she said she'd fallen for someone else.
He also treated Nanhui terribly - she was in love with him and of his class and he was too focused on Chae-ok to care.
Also because he kept hinting in his actions that he was so gung ho to prove to everyone of his station that he didn't love Chae-ok that he was willing to let her die when she'd done her best for him. He arrested her. He sent her off to the military post to be a kitchen maid (and get assaulted). He only listened to her when it was convenient for him.
He was just too inconsistent. He kept defeating his own purposes with his actions.
Eh, that's my (incoherent) reasoning.

If not for Yoon, Chae Ok would've been sent to jail. In this drama, they mostly show Damo's, such as Chae Ok, as female detectives. However, a damo was no different from a maid. Believe it or not, they actually paint a nice picture of what the life of a Damo was like.

Has anyone read the comic series on which the Damo tv series is based? Does the tv series follow the comics closely or not? What major changes are there? Thanks.

I like Yoon. I like the other guy too, but I like Yoon a little bit more. I think that he loves Chae-Ok more. He never hesitate to put himself in danger to save Chae-Ok. He died saving her. I think that in the end, Chae-Ok loves Yoon a wee bit more. I don't think that she has ever stop loving Yoon.

This week I finally watched the whole of Damo. I know it was aired a long time ago. What is the significance of the air walking/running/fighting? Since this was based on a comic series, is that some type of "Superman move"?

Did you see "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"? Wow, it's from 2007! I didn't think it was so long ago. That movie had fighting in the air too, so I thought that's where they got the idea. But then I don't read the comics or see any Hong Kong movies, so maybe there's more of it than I know. Here's a photo of fighting: movies.yahoo.com/movie/1800424121/photo/152235No, not 2007, I should proofread. It didn't even make sense. It's from 2000!

The reason it is so good is because it gives an excellent history and background to Damo, talking about wuxia serials, this show's direct progenitor. Do check it out. www.twitchfilm.net/archives/005168.htmlBo

Dear Bo, Thank you for that info. It felt like I was back in college studying history or at least the history of drama. It did clarify somewhat the "wiring shots". I think that I will watch the show again in a few months with a different perspective in my mind. kam sahamnida!!

My pleasure, teacher! Believe me, I was VERY excited to find that page, I have it bookmarked on my computer for future reference. Also, Damo stands another watching, I've seen it three times so far (twice on TV and once on DVD), and I came away feeling differently every time.
