1. Chae-ok's Se-geom"Se-geom" means a thin saber which is favored by those who are quick in action. It is very similar to rapiers in Western countries. 2. Cha-ok's Changpo-geomThe sheath of this sword is made of bamboo. The name "Chanpo-geom" is originated from the shape of the blade which looks like Changpo(iris flower)'s petal. 3. Sung-baek's Baek-geom[/i] "Baek-geom" means "white sword". White is a symbolic color of the common people in Korea, because Korean people called themselves "the white-clad folk". His name Sung-baek also means "to establish common people's country" by overturning the strict social class system. White also means death and sorrow in ancient Korea. (Did you see the color of the mourners' garb in episode 8?) 4. Hwangbo Yoon's Hwan-do, Ho-rang-i(Tiger) "Hwan-do" is a traditional Korean style sword. It is shorter than Japanese "Katana(sword)". Hwan means "ring", so the name "Hwan-do" is originated from the rings on the sheath which fix the sword onto the waist of its owner. 5. Jo Chi-Oh's Hwan-do, Mae-wha[/i](Japanese apricot blossom) 6. Su-myoung's Yeon-geom[/b] "Yeon-geom" means a soft-bladed saber which is also favored by those who are quick in action. This is a Chinese style sword. 7. The Japanese Samurai's small sword for Harakiri(=disembowel) Click the sword pictures in this page if you want to see larger ones. www.sehyun-kumdo.com/damosword.htm
