Hello everyone! I just started watching 1 Million Roses 2 weeks ago. I'm still learning characters names & history. I love the so much I started digging & found anotther Korean Soap show called, "So, This Is Love".
I have Comcast Cable & "So, This Is Love" airs Mon - Friday's 11 am to 11:30am. I'm working on a summary episode so you can follow. My second viewing of the episode is today. It's probably going to take me a week to figure the family system.
I'll give precise info later but here's the story so far. Yujin from OMR is on the show. She is a single mom. She recently had a baby & is now working for a new company as a lead partner.
Her mother is disappointed in Yujin because she not only spends little time with her baby boy but she also doesn't know how to take care of it.
A is a going to her partner in the business. He has 2 other siblings. One is married to a woman who is upset that a grocery clerk not only notice her beauty but a gray strand in back of her head. This makes her get into a squable with brother B.
Brother C is youg teen, is trying to have his tough & critical father to accept his girlfriend, Young Ah, who accidently told him that he was a "dummy & petty" when she thought she was talking to Brother C on the phone.
Brother C's mother seems to be mood of "not too good or bad" type of mood. She is upset that her husband is happy with her other 2 sons except for the young one. I also think she as young teenage daugther.
Yujin's baby barfs on her black business jacket, stuck in traffic with the cab driver, arrives late to work, leaves her bag in the taxi, chases the taxi but gets a run in her stockings.
When she's in the elevator the A is trashing her in the elevator to another guy. He has no idea that she is her partner. He thinks his partner is a guy, who is late & doesn't care about the job. A also feels "he" doesn't have the experience to run the company/project & he wants "him" to be transferred.
Once the the 2 reach their destination A is shocked to learn that is his partner he verbally trashed in the elevator. He's left speechless:)

Hey Miles, welcome. Where are you watching from. I suspect it's not from Chicago, since we are still hoping to get this channel on cable tv.
So This is Love aired a couple of years ago (maybe 2) I hope you enjoy it, it was a very funny series. Mrs. Cha (mother of the three guys) is also in OMR. She gives a great performance in that drama as well.

I hear that “So This is Love” has just started being shown in the Philadelphia/South New Jersey area on WYBE. I don’t remember all the details of STIL (it was shown maybe two years ago in Chicago and Los Angeles) but for some weird reason every time I see the actor who played the father in that series, I still (to this day) call him “Mr. Cha.” Miles, some of the Philly viewers have already started up a thread on this series over on the California board. You might check it out. You’re more than welcome to join us. com1.runboard.com/bcjkdramasincalifornia.fdiscussion.t38

To me, the name "Mr. Cha" means Cha Tae-woong from "On the Green Prairie." Oh, so many associations for a Korean drama fan to make!

The guy who plays Mr. Cha looks really familiar to me. Does he play the father of Mi-ryung on Yellow Handkerchief?

Oh, Lucy, that's right! But I guess I always remembered him as Tae-woong, not Mr. Cha.
Tibuktu, Mi-ryung's father in "Yellow Handkerchief" is indeed the same actor as Mr. Cha in "So This is Love." The actor's name is Jang Yong.

Hi, mikey! The only reason I remember that is because Yon-ho occasionally called him that while they were dating/trying to persuade her parents to give in. Her mom didn't like it (especially because of the difference in their social status, I think), but I thought it was cute for her to address him as "Mr. Cha." I remember the mom saying, "Are you going to call him that after you're married?" and Yon-ho would just get that merry expression on her face.

Note I gathered all this info from episodes 9 & 10 that just aired on Monday & Tuesday. I had to watch it like 8 times to get the info.
Episode 9
Family A
Grandmother is a retired school teacher. She has 2 daughters: Keum-nan & Jang Oh-bok
Keum-nan: Married to Byung-doo. Keum-nan appears to the black sheep of the family. She hasn’t spoken to her mother & sisters for years. The [grand]mother wants to see but she knows that has the opposite desire. So she displays the attitude of not wanting to Keum-nan as a defense tactic. She is also financially well off compared to her sister, Oh-bok, & [grand]mother put together.
I don’t know why Keum-nan & [grand]mother are not speaking but I know why she doesn’t speak to her sister Oh-bok. Keum-nan believes that Oh-bok is/was trying to steal or fiancé/husband years ago. To this day she never wants her husband & sister in the same room.
Keum-nan has child in her early 20s named Hoon-sook. The actress who plays Hoon-sook also plays in the TV show, “1 Million Roses, as Yujin.
Hoon-sook is a single, successful, inexperienced, young mother. The father of the baby is not shown [dead, divorce, 1 night stand. I don’t know]. Hoon-sook just returned from the United States with a graduate degree in business . She is trying to maintain her role as a mother [poorly] while trying to be a successful business woman.
Oh-bok received a divorce 10yrs ago when her husband abandoned her with her 2 daughters, Young-ah & Yun-ah. She considerers him “dead” when he told her 10yrs ago, that he loves his new wife & her 2 daughters from another better marriage better than the ones he created with her. That’s harsh. Oh-bok her kids & [grand]mother live in the same house. Niether if financially strong to live alone.
Young-ah is the eldest sister: She is dating Ki-bum. Ki-bum disapproves his son of dating her. Young-ah ceased dating in episode 8 over the phone, which I didn’t see, about orchids. They patched things up in episode 9. I can tell these 2 are going to be on-&-off again in terms of dating. She’s in her late teens or early 20s & runs/owns a dancing studio that looks like its in a boxing gym.
Yun-ah is about 15 or 16. She goes to middle/highs school
Family B
[Still working on this. Expect corrections later]
Father Cha & Mother Cha have 3 sons; Joon-bum, Ki-bum, & brother C Father is a tough, critical man, who inadvertenly appears funny on camera. Make no mistake I can this guy is going to be a problem in the future regarding his youngest son, Ki-bum.
Ki-bum Cha is in his late late teens or early 20s & he’s having fun drinking & having his girlfriend Young-ah. He’s not an alcoholic! The father is only critical of him because he no where near the status his brother are at. His father prevents him from using the phone in the house because he already has a cell phone.
Mother is [deeply] silently becoming upset with her husband because of the critical comments he makes to Ki-Bum. I expect a serious feud with Mother, Father, & Ki-Bum soon.
Joon-bum Cha is the middle son. He’s probably the most successful of the brothers. He’s 2nd in charge of a project or company. He has one young secretary, Jung Eun-ji, & funny co-worker, Han Jong-kyu who is attracted to Hook-soon underneath him. He lightens the mood in the place. Joon-bum is now working with Hoon-sook. Who he bath mouthed about to a friend in the elevator with Hoon-sook present, before knowing her position. They get stuck in an elevator at night. This happens in episode 9 [today!]. Joon tells Hoon that he & his brothers are labeled the Cha, Cha, Cha, Brothers.
Brother Cha is the 2nd oldest. He’s successful but I don’t know how much. He is married with 1 son. He’s probably 8yrs old.
Note: Family A & B will be/is connected by…
Young-ah & Ki-bum
Hoon-sook & Joon-bum
Hoon-sook has not disclosed that she has baby yet.
[Grand]mother from family A is resourceful woman. She digs in the garbage in daylight for the world to see for items “young people throw away that are still useful. I can fix it.” She finds some umbrellas & says she can fix it. Episode 9.
She quickly states “They still haven’t come to their sense even after the IMF fiasco.” Do any of you posters know what she talking about? What is IMF? Any how, I believe she’ll sell the umbrella after she fixes them. Her 70th birthday is about 4 episodes away I think.
While driving Hoon-sook to the project site, Joon-bum asks a question. Before I go into that, does not have faith working with Hoon-sook because he feels that she lacks experience [which she does] & went to an American graduate school . Any way, he asked if she at least went to undergrad in Korea. Nope. I take it she was in the US from undergrad to graduate school. After finding this out he has even less confidence in working with her.
Whew!!! That was an intense Bio!!!
Thank you all for the warm welcome. I spent hours trying to find a good message board for “1 Million Roses” & “So, This Is Love”.
galacticchick: I live in New Jersey. I have Comcast cable & watch the only 2 Korean soaps on the station wybe on channel 98. I recently learned that another show called “The Age of Warriors” is another Korean soap but it only comes on Friday at 10pm. I have a while to wait on that one. I knew Mrs. Cha looked familiar.
Lucy: I never heard of “On The Green Praire” You’ll have to fill me in sometime.
Tibuktu: I never watched or heard of “Yellow Hankerchief” either.
Questions: Was this show before or after One Million Roses? When did both shows air? I have many more but I’m too tired to ask now… but I will later.

Hi miles, ON THE GREEN PRAIRIE was such a great drama. Very saddd Although the main actors kinda have a big age difference, the drama was really really good. You should try watching it. I dont want to say too much in case if you get to watch it. But the actress was Chae Rim who played Yon-ho, she was totally hot! I have to admit, i only started watching it because of Chae rim, but i got addicted to the story. So try to get a hold of htat drama some how!

'So This Is Love' and 'On the Green Prairie', and of course, 'Yellow Handkerchief', are three of my favorite dramas. This board is mostly based on the viewers of WOCH/KBC TV ch 28 (broadcast, not cable) in Chicago. A description of the programming we watch, as well as some links to some other resources on the Internet, can be found in my message in this thread: deiner.proboards18.com/index.cgi?board=daejanggeum&action=display&thread=1087826568If you live in the Philadelphia area, be sure to check out the Yahoo! Korean Drama group. The discussion there is heavily geared towards the Philly/ So. NJ region.
