The subtitles have been annoyingly colloquial the past few days. I wonder if it's related to the recent turmoil at KTE.

This was on the Wiz's site a while back: 8/10/04 update: Fellow addict Cathrine spoke with Mike of KBS-LA (fka KTE) this morning. Due to unspecified internal changes at KBS-LA, a decision had initially been made to drop English subtitles from most of the programs, at least for a short while. However, that decision has been rescinded. Age of Warriors will continue to have English subtitles after all. Mike encouraged viewers to keep watching KBS-LA since they hope to add more subtitled programs by the end of next month. The dramas KBS-LA currently broadcasts with subtitles are: My Precious Child (daily drama), Terms of Endearment (weekend drama) and Age of Warriors (historical drama). (Thanks Cathrine for the inside scoop).
8/10/04: Fellow addict jp forwarded an e-mail he received from Christy Kim, the translator used by KTE to translate Age of Warriors. Christy indicated that she received a frantic call from KTE asking her to quickly translate episode 141 which was scheduled to air that same night. When episode 140 had aired the night before without subtitles, KTE did not get the number of complaints that they had feared they would get, but realized that they could not ignore this problem. At the time Christy wrote the e-mail, she said that her only instructions were to work on episode 141 and nothing more. She was going to push for subtitling episode 140 so that there would be continuity for other cities, but could not guarantee it since subtitling involved more work than just translation on her part. Christy said that it would help a great deal if more viewers could phone KTE or even write to KBS World in Korea. The e-mail address for KBS World director, Mr. Kim Chang Jo, is free@kbs.co.kr. So now is the time for fellow addicts to join forces again to make their voices heard. It may be a good idea to contact both KTE and KBS World. You can contact KTE by phone (213-382-6700), fax (213-382-5793) or mail (623 S. Kingsley Drive, Los Angeles, California 90005). KTE's office hours are Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. By the way, KTE changed its name to KBS-LA effective August 1st. The name change and termination of AOW subtitles were apparently changes that resulted from a lawsuit verdict against KTE and KXLA. More information about the lawsuit can be obtained from the message boards and Yahoo group on this drama. Fellow addict sue suggests that fellow addicts contact KTE to request that their sponsors subtitle the commercials, because if more people can understand the commercials, more people will buy the sponsor's products. This will bring more money into the station and hopefully, they will be willing to spend some of their new found money on subtitles for the dramas. Go out there now and contact KTE and KBS. (Thanks Christy, jp and sue for the info.)
These new subs are probably a result of the launch of KBS-America ( www.kbs-america.com/index.php ).

These new subs are probably a result of the launch of KBS-America. Well, they are substandard. Do you think we should contact these parties, too? Bo
