luvsarchfiend, i am pleased that the empress takes pleasure in my work. the plot's already starting to get complicated. props to you chung kyun! great plot twist! thank you empress! ;D your storie should be made as a drama. i like it how, problems will start in the future for brue and choi bu. if you made an aow book, i bet all the fans will buy it.

Choe Chun ran hurriedly to be back at the empress' bedchamber before she awoke. She still had to light the lamps and get her morning toilet ready. When she ran in breathless, she started when she saw the empress already there. Bu Yong turned to her and smiled. "I didn't mean to frighten you."
Cho chun fell to her knees. "My Lady! forgive me for being tardy!"
Bu yong smiled again. "Hae yon-ah, you are not tardy. i couldn't sleep that's all. I thought you might be awake - you're always up so early being industrious. i just thought we might chat and get to know each other a little better.
Cho Chun smiled shyly at Bu Yong. It's too bad i must kill your husband, you seem so nice, she thought to herself. But her lips said, "then at least allow me to prepare her ladyship for the day ". Bu Yong nodded and sat down at the table that served as her vanity. Cho Chung left the room briefly and returned with a basin filled with a sweet smelling liquid.
"What is that?" Bu yong asked, studying the basin curiously.
Cho Chung loosened bu yong's hair and let it fall down her shoulders. "something my grandmother taught me" she explained. after dipping a comb in the liquid, she then proceeded to brush bu yong's hair with the tonic.
"it smells so sweet" bu yong noted. "what is it?"
Cho Chun continued to brush bu yong's long ebony locks. "there is a flower, that grows in koryo and it only blooms for two weeks every year before it dies. but its scent is unmatched by any flower. my grandmother taught me to soak the young blossoms in boiled water and then she would brush it into my hair. So for two glorious weeks every year, i had the luxury of shiny, fragrant hair and..." her voice trailed off.
Bu yong had been enjoying the experience so much, it took her a few seconds to realize that she had stopped talking. "and what?" she turned around. "hae yon! why are you crying?"
Cho Chun wiped her face and then her hands on a towel so as not to get her tears in the empress' hair. "i'm not crying, my lady" she said bravely.
Bu yong's heart went out to her. "Now that you are my attendant, I wish for us to be friends. please tell me. perhaps i can help you."
Cho chung continued to brush bu yong's hair. her voice was steadier but tears still traveled down her cheeks. "it is one of my fondest memories of my grandmother. she showed me this ritual the spring my mother died. i was so sad all the time, she couldn't think of anything else to make me feel better. and i loved it. i looked forward to it every year. i miss her so much." she began crying in earnest. "i have no other family and no friends. she's everything i have and i am just so afraid that while i am away that she'll...she'll..."
Bu yong put her hand on Cho chun's to stop her brushing. taking a towel to wipe her tears, bu yong asked, "are you worried that she might pass away while you are gone?" her maidservant's face crumpled and she nodded. watching her cry into her hands like a lost child stirred something maternal in bu yong. pulling her hands away from her face, she told cho chun, "You know, you do such a good job helping me, i can manage without you a few days a week. you can go visit your grandmother during those days, hm?"
Cho chun sniffed and brightened momentarily then her face fell again. "But it takes so long to get up to kaelim. i would spend all that time just in transit" she said.
"why don't you ride a horse there?" bu yong asked. "i'm sure we could have someone teach you."
"me? ride a horse" her eyes widened in fear
bu yong laughed. "don't worry. i'll have someone i trust completely to teach you."
"Who?" curiosity was not starting to show on her face.
"his name is choi bu. i don't know if you have met him yet, but he is a close personal friend of ours and one of the best horsemen in shilla. he's a very good, very patient man. if i asked, i am sure he would not refuse." Bu yong looked for a reaction.
Cho chun's smile lit her entire face. "Empress, you are too kind! to think so well of a lowly peasant girl like me..."
bu yong waved away her thanks. "Stop. i am so happy to have you here, i could not bear it if i knew you were harboring sadness all the time. will you learn to ride then?"
she nodded slowly. "if you trust him, i will too my lady."
"good" bu yong smiled. "now how about more of that flower water? i haven't felt this relaxed in a while!"
Cho chun giggled. "certainly!" as the palace began to stir, faint sounds of laughter could be heard coming from deep within the queen's bedchamber

Bu Yong made her way to the audience hall where her husband was already chatting with brue and choi bu. After the excorts had announced her, she swept into the room. Ui Min raised an eyebrow. "Boo hin, you're in a good mood this morning." as she floated by, he noticed the sweet smell she trailed behind her. "are you going to tell me what the reason is?"
she patted the archfiend's hand affectionately. "Bae ha, thank you so much for my new maidservant. she is such a hard working girl and such wonderful company." Brue pricked up his ears at the mention of her name. "she showed me this marvelous relaxing trick-" bu yong stopped mid-sentence, afraid that she was betraying her maid's confidence. "she chatted with me for a long while - i get so lonely sometimes for female company, you know." she turned to general choi. "speaking of hae yon, choi jang goon, i wish for her to visit her grandmother three days out of the week, but she must learn to ride a horse if she is to have any time to spend with her. you are one of the best equestrians in the army. as a personal favor, would you teach her?" As she said this, a cloud passed over brue's face.
ui min grunted, as if speaking for choi bu's embarrassed bewilderment. "boo hin" he interjected, "i know you only wish to do the right thing, but general choi has many duties, i hardly think that he has time to-"
"oh bae ha please!" she begged. "she makes me so happy, almost like a daughter, and i want her to be happy. i do love to see her smile. i just wish she would do it more."
ui min cleared his throat again, "boo hin, I-"
General Choi stepped forward, stopping the archfiend. "Hwang sang bae ha, the empress does not ask you for much and it must mean a great deal to her if she asked it of me." he turned to bu yong. "if you wish it of me, i will teach her to ride."
bu yong smiled her thanks to him.
Brue put a hand on Choi's shoulder. "if it would cut into your duties, i could teach her to ride."
"no, it will not. i suppose i will just sleep a few hours less in the day" he joked. Brue laughed with him, but he didn't feel the slightest bit merry.
"empress" choi bu said as an afterthought. "please tell hae yon to wear men's clothing as she will not be able to learn to ride a horse properly in a skirt."
Bu yong nodded that she would relay the instructions and then left the men to their business.

its not fair, he seems like a robot, he should be with her and then brue would break his bones lmao! ;D he is anything but a robot ;D and i don't want him and brue to get too antagonistic with each other, especially over a member of the choe clan.
