What's yours? Mine was when the little JG guessed the red persimmon on the dish.. LOL.. when the young keum young sat beside the head cook (madam jung) since she was considered very talented in cooking as of that time.. i can still remember that lady choi was nodding (lady han wasnt reacting then) when madam jung asked if keum young was right with the ingredients... JG kicked their a**ses alright... LOL..

Mine is when Lady Han keeps telling little JG to fetch water. That poor thing keeps getting water without knowing the purpose. Only later she realizes that even water is food and has to be served with importance.

Mine was Lady Han and little JG with the water too. And the part when Lady Han watched Jang Geum cook without using her sense of taste.
I remember the way Lady Han's smiled to herself when Jang Geum was not looking - and her patience with Jang Geum. Jang Geum was breaking the roots off bean sprouts one by one, while Lady Han watched from behind. The scene only took a couple of seconds, but you can imagine how long it takes to prepare a whole basket of bean sprouts.

Lady Han 2. Madam Choi - (Kyeon MiRi - peace to choi haters) 3. Lady Min 4. Lady Choi - (Hong Rina) 5. Madam Jung (who would ever forget) 6. Jang Geum (of course) 7. Min Jung Ho (yes, there are!) 8. Doctor Shin 9. Duk Gu (father of Jang geum, he is one of the chief) hey, this should be enough... hmm... recall, recall, recall.... my answers would be... err... i suddenly had a mental block even though ive watched it so many times... hmmm.. memorable... mmmm....

Good idea, jasmine!
1.Lady Han: The two I mentioned above. I don’t have a clip or screen capture or the bean sprouts scenes – it just happened to be deeply ingrained in my head. Sorry!
2.Madam Choi (Kyeon Miri): Not really a cooking/health tip, but I felt very sorry for her when she was accused of adding poisonous powder to her cooking, when it was but a harmless recipe passed down by her family. (I cannot bear to see anyone wrongfully accused when he or she meant well – think Lady Han!)
3.Lady Min: This is not really a cooking/health tip either, but I really enjoyed it whenever Lady Min told Chang-ee about staying safe in the palace! =D And when she echoed the philosophies of Lady Han.
4.Lady Choi (Hong Rina): Keum Young telling Madam Choi that they were in fact the losers, because they lacked the passion in cooking that Lady Han and Jang Geum possessed. I like Keum Young’s acknowledgement of her weaknesses and her willingness to learn.
5.Madam Jung: “The Royal Kitchen is a place where food for human consumption is prepared – not a place to attain status and power!” And though not directly related to food or health, her quote about the loneliness in the palace was a meaningful one too. Oh! And what she told the palace maids when they gathered for a meal just after she became the Top Lady - that everyone should learn from one another when it comes to cooking, regardless of their seniority in the palace.
6.Jang Geum: “Sincerity and time – those are the only recipes!” And her simple wish to put a smile on the faces of the people she cooked for, as well as her determination never to hurt anyone with her medical skills, even if it meant being executed by the Queen.
7.Min Jung Ho: When he encouraged Keum Young by telling her about Jang Geum’s simple wish to bring a smile to the faces of the people she cooked for.
8.Doctor Shin: That when it comes to herbs, when can never truly differentiate between the helpful and the harmful. (I felt that this applied to one of the things I have learnt from the entire drama – that you can never differentiate between good and bad when it comes to characters.)
9.Duk Gu: I found it very inspiring that he experimented with ducks with such devotion after the sulphur incident, and very touching when he reminded his wife in explanation that without Lady Han, there would never have been Jang Geum.

Lady Han's *looks* are so memorable. Her motherly looks... her eyes when they are shining with tears or glowing with hidden pride in Jang Geum, or when they are quietly amused. I love her!

yeah, there's something about lady han's concerned/worried look and very impressed look; and also lady choi's scheming, devious, angry, rolling eyes look. i guess that's what my brother calls "silent acting." my djg most memorable cooking/health tip comes from jang geum when lady han and herself were assigned by lady choi to serve the chinese emperor(?). cooks shouldn't just cook delicious foods. they also need to consider the health of those who will eat the food. in later part the diabetic chinese emperor also succumbed to lady han/jang geum's belief stating that "the eater should also have the discipline to eat not just delicious but most importantly, healthy foods. cooking tip: by lady choi: a fresh cucumber have a rough skin. geesh

Anyeong Haseyo everyone! Nice topic! What i've learnt from DJG... That Ducks can consume Sulphur and has natural ability to neutralize the poison and if people ate sulfur-fed ducks, it will serve as an elixir and aphrodisiac at the same time. I suddenly remembered the wine couple .... ;D The red persimmon scene where Madame Jung include that ingredient to cure hangovers (from drunkenness) Charcoal is good!Ive learnt that charcoal aside from burning can be used as a good filter for water and as a preventive measure whenever we are dealing with infectious disease(bathing in charcoal water). Nutmeg and ginseng is a no-no combination. And back in the olden golden days, China is not using ginseng. Ginseng is authentic Korean stuff. Fisherman anesthetize their fish thru acupuncture. Thats where Jang Geum learnt anesthesia from. and there is something with raspberry, it says it can cure pimples or something..... hope sumbody will recall that scene where Jan geum is massaging the feet of a kitchen trainee and she asked about acne.
